  • Episode Description
  • Lovejoy is asked to value an ancient Chinese terra-cotta figure of a pig. Then he falls off a bicycle and breaks his leg, landing him in hospital. The pig's owners, curiously, are doing their best to have it under-valued. Meanwhile, Eric needs to sell his ancient motorbike and comes up with the story that it once belonged to Lawrence of Arabia. And pigs might fly...

    • Lovejoy: (to camera) Flat Fee Lee here went to Sir Desmond behind my back. Clark's buyers don't know Terra-cotta from spaghetti ricotta, but they have a bank full of money and they want to hang a piece of history on their wall, a genuine piece. I couldn't mislead anyone like that, could I? But I know a man who can. If Lee says that that the pig is genuine, than we all can make a profit: Clark for the sale, Lee for the provenance, me for keeping my mouth shut. I could even come away with my reputation intact.

    • Lovejoy: (to camera) Well, I know Cromwell's dagger, we've had this knife in the family since the Civil War. It's only had ten new blades and seven new handles. A lot of vintage machinery isn't as complete as this, there's a fresh bolt here, a fresh nut there and a new carburettor. Collectors like to replace them with originals. Often they would rip apart a whole machine for one or two nuts, in this case peanuts.

    • Jane: You won't regret it, Lovejoy, Lawrence of Arabia died on a Brough Superior. Lovejoy: Was he driving it? (Points to Eric) You spent three grand of my money on a motorbike?

    • Eric: I tell you, that German fella pinched my nuts.

    • Eric: Come on, he won't think you trust me. Lovejoy:I don't think I trust you.
