  • With the success of The CW's incarnation of 90210, producers Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavin (Smallville) re-imagine a new tale from the popular primetime soap Melrose Place. The new Melrose Place follows the lives of residents in the iconic apartment complex, who pursue their dreams at any cost. Maybe It's Me's Shaun Sipos and Harper's Island's Katie Cassidy play the lead roles in the primetime soap. Sipos plays bad boy David and Cassidy plays bisexual publicist Ella. Greek's Michael Rady, 90210's Jessica Lucas, All My Children's Colin Egglesfield, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' Stephanie Jacobsen, and singing sensation Ashlee Simpson-Wentz round out the cast of the new Melrose Place. Melrose Place alumni Laura Leighton, Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett and Daphne Zuniga reprise their roles as Sydney Andrews, Dr. Michael Mancini, Jane Mancini and Jo Reynolds. Melrose Place is produced by CBS Paramount Network Television.moreless

    • Jonah: Don't you just wanna meet someone, and settle down, and fall in love? Ella: You can love someone without declaring yourself exclusive for the rest of your life. Hey, I love love. I just hate monogamy.

    • Sydney: You have until the end of the month. I want you out. Ella: You're evicting me? You can't do that. Sydney: Actually, I can do a lot worse. Just ask the people who used to live here.

    • Lauren: He offered me 5,000 dollars to have sex with him. Violet: That's a lot of money!

    • Lauren: All my life, all I wanted is to be a doctor. Riley: You are going to be a doctor. Lauren: I can't afford medical school. I have until the end of this semester to pay in full or they are going to kick me out.

    • Lauren: Riley, is this what I think it is? You did say yes, didn't you? Riley: How's he supposed to take care of our family, if he can't even take care of himself?

    • Jonah: to Riley I don't know Riley, as of this morning I really want a lot of things. None of them seem to be working out the way I pictured it.

    • Ella: This is Hollywood, and today, your boyfriend has the opportunity to hand over his film to a three time Oscar winning producer. Jonah: Wait. At his daughter's eighteenth birthday party? Isn't that a little tacky? Ella: It's how things get done.

    • Ella: She needs a better publicist. She needs me!

    • Goof: When Riley and Jonah are in their apartment near the beginning of the episode, Jonah sits down in front of the TV with a bowl of cereal. He's holding the bowl in his left hand, but when the camera angle changes, the bowl is gone and Jonah has both hands on the remote.

    • When Michael asked Sydney who did this to her (when she came into the emergency room after her accident that supposedly killed her in the original series), Sydney responded that it was someone from her past. Fans of the original series know that Sydney was run down by Samantha accidentally, who's father took control of the car trying to run from the police.

The indie feature follows a college student as he retraces his missteps in pursuit of the perfect woman. Interest in the "edgy with a heart" script hit high gear yesterday, when Heller topped several strong offers to land the project. The NYU inspired feature (continued on page 26).

    • Riley: (to Jonah, after he immediately gets out of bed when the alarm goes off) What's the occasion? You gonna come downtown and help teach the Pledge of Allegiance to my first graders? Or, more likely, is the latest Halo going on sale? Halo is a popular series of science-fiction video games, published by Microsoft Game Studios. The first game in the series, Halo: Combat Evolved, debuted in 2001 for the Microsoft Xbox.

    • Mrs. Mancini: (on the phone) Hey honey, our son is so excited you're putting him to bed tonight. Dr. Mancini: Yeah, I'm just a mile away. And tell Noah I'm going to read him Goodnight Moon when I get home. Goodnight Moon is a 1947 children's book by Margaret Wise Brown. It is a popular bedtime story about a child saying goodnight to everything around him before going to bed.

    • Riley: (to Jonah) Look, I don't expect you to remember arbitrary dates, like anniversaries, but last year didn't you swear on The Lord of the Rings you'd never forget? The Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien, published as a trilogy in the mid-1950s. The book has inspired numerous movies, including a 1978 animated film and, more recently, a series of three movies that were released from 2001 to 2003.

    • Riley: What's on the agenda? Jonah: Um, what else? It's the director's cut of Reservoir Dogs at The New Beverly. It's a brand new print. Riley: You know how much I hate Tarantino. Reservoir Dogs was the 1992 movie debut of director Quentin Tarantino. The movie tells the story of the events before and after a failed jewel heist.

    • Ella: (to agent) So here's the thing. Your client has gone from inside the actor's studio to outside of Coco De Ville, doing blow with somebody else's boyfriend. This is a reference to Inside the Actor's Studio, a TV series on Bravo that debuted in 1994. On the show, the host, James Lipton, interviews actors and directors.

    • Jonah: (to Riley) Riles, Ella isn't the wicked witch of West Hollywood. This is a reference to the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. The Wicked Witch of the West was an enemy of the movie's main character, Dorothy.

    • Ella: Give me the weekend, and I promise I will bring a client into this firm that is bigger than Zach Quinto's eyebrows. Caleb: Does that even exist? Zach Quinto is an actor who is best known for starring in the TV series Heroes and for his role as Spock in the 2009 Star Trek movie.

    • Jonah: Ella, this video is flat. Taryn looks like the Tin Man who's in serious need of some WD-40. This is a reference to the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy, the main character, dreams that she is trying to leave Oz and return home to Kansas. The Tin Man was one of the characters she met in her dream.
