  • Episode Description
  • In this episode Barnaby is convinced he has seen two people somewhere before, but can't think of where and when. Then it dawns on him: Iris and Dennis Rainbird from Badger's Drift! But they were brutally murdered, so who are the look-alikes. It turns out to be Iris's sister and Dennis's cousin!!!! A body of a woman is pulled from the river during the local Oak Apple Carnival. It appears that the drowning was deliberate, and as Barnaby and Jones find out more about the villagers, they learn that the killing could be linked to the death of the victim's daughter eight years previously.moreless

  • Fan Reviews (1)
  • Are Iris and Dennis Rainbird back from the dead? It certainly appears so to Barnaby when he sees two familiar faces.

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Notes (1)

    • The murder victims: 1. Marion Slade- Drugged and drowned 2. Mark Castle- Drugged and throat slit 3. Dr. Wellow- Stabbed to death N/B- Historical death of Bella Slade; died after an abortion

    Trivia (2)

    • The 4 deaths in this episode (one from the past) brings the total in the series to date to 148.

    • There are parallels with the first episode, "The Killings at Badger's Drift." Elizabeth Spriggs played Iris Rainbird and Richard Cant played her son Dennis in the first episode, "The Killings at Badger's Drift." They play the Goodings in this episode, sister and cousin to the earlier murder victims. Barnaby notes the resemblance, and Ursula Gooding inherited her sister's snooping nature. Another parallel with the first episode is that a death of a woman named Bella predates the present day action, Bella Trace by shotgun in the first episode and Bella Slade in "Dead Letters."
