  • Episode Description
  • Alex Cresnic and his partner Walters have bought out an entire nation's heroin crop and are smuggling it into Marseilles for a sale - the IMF needs to put them out of business. Barney and Jim fake an elevator crash and "blind" Walters. In the hospital, Rollins impersonates Cresnic's voice and gives Walters specific instructions. Meanwhile, Cresnic believes Walters to be dead and meets Walters' widow, played by Cinnamon.

  • Quotes (2)

    • (Cinnamon admires her ring)
Cinnamon: It appears my new husband is very generous. We should be very happy together.
Jim: Yes, but not for long. Within 48 hours we're going to make you a grieving widow.

    • (to Cinnamon, after Walters is killed for real) Jim: There aren't too many women who can claim to being widowed twice by the same man.

    Notes (2)

    • Although not the first episode of the season filmed, this episode introduces Jim Phelps...with no real introduction at all. No reference is made to the departure of former IMF leader Dan Briggs, and Phelps is brought in without fanfare.

    • The guy who buys the heroin buyer is Howard Beckler, who is not an actor but was a lawyer working for director Lee Katzin who popped in for a cameo. He is now a criminal attorney in L.A.

    Trivia (3)

    • The IMF plan seems a bit vague on one critical point: they rely on Cresnic not checking the bath crystals to see if it's heroin. Despite the fact that earlier at Rollin's lab Cresnic taste-sampled the heroin to verify it, he doesn't do so after Jim is through with it.

    • When Maharis shoots Walters, even by 60s TV standards the lack of blood or injury is blatant.

    • For no good reason, the producers use a short scene from a first season episode, "The Short Tail Spy", that has Cinnamon in her room pondering whether to make a phone call. Barbara Bain's hair color had changed since that episode, causing an on-screen mismatch.
