  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (14)

    • Monk: (guessing at Charades): "The Man Who Came To Dinner." Gail: How did you know that? Monk: Six words, "The Man Who Came To Dinner," it's about a guest who wouldn't leave, and you were looking at me....

    • Darryl: (referring to Monk) I should write about him! Sharona: You should. Nobody would believe it. You'd have to put it in the science fiction section.

    • Gail: (seeing Monk) What's he doing? Sharona: He's counting the bricks in the wall. Gail: Good. I've always been curious about that.

    • Monk: Don't worry about Sharona. She won't get in the way.

    • Benjy: Why can't we stay at Monk's? Sharona: Because I'd go crazy slower at Aunt Gail's.

    Notes (3)

    • Music: "A Clean Apartment" by Jeff Beal

    • Watch for Monk's usual flashback-like reconstruction of the crime, made hilarious by the fact he's narrating it in incomprehensible gibberish.

    • David Sparrow gets a brief voice-only role in his recurring role as Sgt. Cargill, talking to Stottlemeyer over the radio, but he doesn't get credited at the end.

    Trivia (5)

    • Way back in episode 3, 'Mr. Monk and the Psychic', the psychic predicted that Sharona would meet a man with an accent (perhaps British) whose name would be something like David or Daniel. In this episode, Sharona meets Daryl, a man with an Australian accent.

    • When Sharona and Benjy are walking away from the police blockade near her home, the cop she was talking to says, "Move away please," but his jaw doesn't move.

    • If phone service to Sharona's house was down as a result of the earthquake, how was Rutherford able to stay connected (or call her back), and how was his wife able to redial the number to see who he called? (Contributed by nelamm.)

    • When Sharona and Monk talk to Kroger, Monk's clock says 10:00. In the next scene at the Rutherfords, the clock says 10:20 and Sharona has already finished making tea and is ready to pour. We don't know how close the two homes are, but we see crowded streets, rerouted traffic, emergency vehicles, etc. so... how'd they get there so quick?

    • When Monk is calling Stottlemeyer at the precinct house to tell him who killed Rutherford, despite the aftershock rattling the scene, the painting on the wall doesn't move and the lamps or even the shades on the lamps behind him don't shake.

    Allusions (2)

    • Darryl Wright: Danger, danger, danger! Australian Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin is often associated with the phrase "Danger, Danger!"

    • TV: "Tobor the Great!" Typical cheesey 1954 sci-fi movie about a robot that develops human emotions thanks to a young boy who befriends it. Might have been used because it features a young fatherless boy whose mother is dating. Benjy and Sharona, anyone?
