  • Merlin the Magician is alive and well and owns an auto shop in San Francisco, where he uses his magics to help people. But the higher powers say he's overworked and falling behind, so he's ordered to take on an apprentice. Enter Zach, a bumbling 15-year-old who gets the job by effortlessly pulling a crowbar from a bucket of hardened cement. The 1600-year-old and the teenager become friends as well as teacher and student. Assisting Mr. Merlin is Alexandria ("Alex"), a blonde fellow magician and the only other person who knows his secret.moreless

  • Quotes (22)

    • Alex: You're going to teach him to be a selfless and giving person in 24 hours? It can't be done. Mr. Merlin: Did I teach Attilla the Hun to brush his teeth?

    • Zach: The Merlin? You'd have to be over sixteen hundred years old! Mr. Merlin: I do thirty pushups a day and I don't eat fried food.

    • Alex: Merlin, you're a sorcerer, a magician of the highest order. Don't tell me you can't find an apprentice. Mr. Merlin: 1600 years, I've never needed an apprentice, why now? Alex: You're overworked and you're falling behind. Mr. Merlin: And what if I said no? Alex: You accept mortality and lose all your powers. Mr. Merlin: A lousy retirement plan. Alex: Find somebody!

    • Merlin: The last one who used it was Arthur. Zach: King Arthur? Merlin: Well, before he was king. As a boy, you know, he was a terrible bedwetter. Zach: I didn't know that. Merlin: Oh, chronic. He used starsand all the time. Zach: Well, what for? Merlin: Change the sheets.

    • (Zach can't stop the cloning spell) Zach: Okay, so I needed 90 bucks. To rent a motorcycle. Alex: Well, you could turn it off now. You have enough to buy a Kawasaki factory.

    • Zac: Mr. Merlin, you've seen me make my last mistake! (Zac opens the garage door and the water cooler behind it falls to the floor and breaks)

    • Leo: Mr. Merlin, thanks a lot, you made us famous. You must feel like Da Vinci at his first showing. Mr. Merlin: More like Judas, at the Last Supper.

    • Zac: Hi Mr. Merlin, have you got my check yet? Mr. Merlin: Yeah, I've got it right here. Zac: I really wanna thank you for paying me a day early. Life was a whole lot cheaper when I wasn't in love. Mr. Merlin: So I noticed. Where do you find the strength? Zac: My sex-ed teacher says males reach their peak at 17. Mr. Merlin: If you don't get some rest, you'll be too pooped to peak.
