  • show Description
  • Music Hall, was a 30 minute bi-weekly live broadcast from New York City's Radio City Music Hall featuring various kinds of musical and comedy acts. Hosted by popular singer Patti Page, the show, also known as the Scott Music Hall because of it's principal sponsor Scott Tissues, alternated on the NBC network every other week in it's time slot with a similar program, Cavalcade Of America. This was Page's first launch into television, still somewhat of a novelty at the time, but would lead to her hosting three other shows, The Patti Page Show in 1955, The Big Record on CBS in 1957 and The Patti Page Oldsmobile Show on ABC in 1958, establishing her as the first musical entertainer to host television shows on all three of the networks of the day. According to the November 1, 1952 edition of Billboard Magazine, Page was threatening to quit the show after only two episodes because she was not happy with it's format. A quick meeting between her manager and the show's producers was able to keep her on. Scott Paper would eventually pull the show from NBC over a dispute about the time slot.moreless
