  • Phinnius Porpoise: Warp factor 3, warp factor 7! / These are both light speed settings on the U.S.S. Enterprise from the old T.V. show Star Trek. Additionally, the Spiffies also wear colored uniforms typically seen on that show.

  • World Weekly Snooze: This is an allusion/parody reference to the tabloid newspaper World Weekly News. In addition, the newspaper cover also has a reference to the Ed, Edd, n' Eddy episode The Ed's Are Coming as the title reads Cul-de-sac abducted by aliens and it even has Ed, Edd, and Eddy on the cover!
