  • Did a Medieval Chinese astrologer make it into space by strapping rockets to his chair and setting them off? Just how hard IS it to find a needle in a haystack? Can you in fact go insane by having water drip on your forehead? These are just a few of the myths, urban legends, and improbable sayings that the Mythbusters try to figure out. Comprised of special effects experts Adam Savage and Jamie Heineman - as well as their mottley crew of Mythbuilders, Mythterns, and resident 'crash test dummy' Buster - they don't just tell the myths, they put them to the test to see which ones are possible, and which ones are just plain bunk. As of 2008, MYTHBUSTERS has tested 600 myths, done over 1,900 experiments and created over 650 explosions to prove these Myths Right or Wrong!moreless

    • Adam: You do know where the output's going? Jamie: No I don't. Adam: You do know where the output's going! Don't make me say it!

    • Jamie: What did you do today honey? Adam: (Mimics a conversation) I made a Meat Bullet. Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

    • Jamie: One way or another we're going to blow up that damn toilet

    • Jamie: If this behaves like the legend says, we're gonna have a 3,000 to 4,000 pound projectile out there. And I guess the other thing that I thought, with that in mind, if we do lose control of it, obviously we don't want to be in the car. So we're probably gonna- Adam: You don't want to be in the car? Jamie: I would love to be in the car, but- Adam: I think you should drive the car. Jamie: I think I should too, but we've radio-controlled cars before and it's a lot of fun, so- Adam: Oh, so we'll make it radio controlled? Jamie: Yeah, I think that's the safest way to deal with it. Adam: Oh, that's the coolest toy ever. Jamie: Yeah, it's like a big kids R.C. Car.

    • Adam: This is so exciting! I'm gonna have a "grinectomy".

    • Jamie: Adam, you're gonna get sick. Adam: I believe I'm already sick.

    • Adam: Myth Busters hairspray-it's what I use to keep my 'do in line

    • Jamie: That was beautiful (indicating to the Chevy Impala's rockets firing off)

    • The Ice bullet myth came from the Kennedy shooting. The reason being is that there were speculations that Kennedy was shot with the Ice bullet.

    • The Ice Bullet myth was busted because it would simply vaporize once it left the gun.

    • For the aired version, all references to the brand of soda used in the myth (in this case, Coke), were dubbed over and replaced with the word Soda

    • This episode marks the first appearance of Buster the crash test dummy.

    • The military wouldn't let the MythBusters use a J.A.T.O. Unit in this episode, so Adam and Jamie used three smaller rockets as a substitute, technically not fulfilling all of the requirements to the myth.

    • This episode would have two of its myths be retested in two future episodes. They were:
1.) The Ice Bullet Myth was retested in the Myth Revisited episode.
2.)Running vs. Walking in the Rain was retested in the MythBusters Revisited episode.

    • The first appearance of Kari Byron. In the Lawn Chair Balloon-myth, she will shoot the last balloon.

    • During the Penny Drop test, Jamie made a staple gun that would shoot a penny at terminal velocity. The gun discharged accidentally when it was upside-down and shot one of the shop's fluorescent lights, forcing a short evacuation due to the mercury vapor from the lights.

    • During the Buried Alive myth, one of the priests said that if the people didn't die from natural cause, they would die by their undertaker.

    • In the Stinky Car myth, Jamie almost fainted since high levels of ammonia had nearly overwhelmed him when the brakes in the car had to be released.

    • The "home remedy" skunk smell remover was the first myth that had ever been declared "Confirmed". Prior to this myth, all others had been declared "Busted", "Plausible" or "True" (the "True" declaration was used in a handful of myths in the first season).

    • The death ray is referring to the Archimedes death ray thought to have been built around 214–212 BC during the Siege of Syracuse. The death ray uses mirrors in a circle to form a ray of light from the sun. This ray was hot enough to set wood on fire. Thats why it would help to burn the ships of the enemy.
