  • Quotes (12)

    • Kate: (watching Gibbs interrogate Barnett) What is Gibbs doing? Tony: T.B.I. Kate: Excuse me? Tony: Truth By Intimidation.

    • (Tony is drumming on every possible surface in the car.) Kate: Will you stop that, you're driving me crazy! Tony: Sorry. Do I detect a little PMS? I didn't think that was until next week. (Kate glares.) Hey, it's a high stress job, you carry a gun - I need to know when you're not at your best.

    • Abby: I am overworked and not paid enough. Gibbs: Quit.

    • Tony: I was scared of my parents for ages after that. McGee: I'm sure the feeling was mutual.

    • Tony: We should start checking the back of their necks for little red X's.

    Trivia (7)

    • TRIVIA: The photographs on the wall at the West Virginia State Police office are actual photographs of WVSP officers killed in the line of duty. Most visable are Trooper Bruce Brown, Trooper 1st Class Tom Hercules, Trooper Charlie Johnson and Trooper J. D. Harris.

    • TRIVIA: The commander of the Marine unit identifies it as HMLA-167 which is a real unit stationed at Air Station New River, North Carolina and they fly the AH-1W SuperCobra and UH-1N Huey.

    • TRIVIA: Tony mentions he liked the 1953 version of Invaders from Mars but not the 1986 remake. Timothy Bottoms, who plays Ritt Everett in this episode, played George Gardner in the 1986 remake.

    • GOOF: When Abby holds a bag of change, Duck say it's $1.65, but it's actually $1.55.

    • TRIVIA: The helicopter used in this episode is the Army version of the Cobra, a single engine model. The Marine Sea Cobra has two engines as a safety feature due to flights over sea.

    Allusions (5)

    • Gibbs: He received SERE training, Colonel, he's evading us. Marine SERE training stands for Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape. The course teaches Marines techniques to use if they find themselves in a hostile situation separated from their units.

    • Abby: It's very Glastonbury, circa 1980s. The myths of Glastonbury center on Joseph of Arimathea, the Holy Grail, and King Arthur.

    • State Police Officer: There's been some kind of feud going on there. It goes back decades. Gibbs: Hmm. What, like Hatfield and McCoys? The Hatfield-McCoy feud carried on for nearly 30 years, claiming approximately 12 men. Hatfield and McCoy is a metaphor now for rival parties.

    • Tony: We should start checking the back of their necks for little red x's. Reference to Invaders from Mars, a 1953 Sci-Fi movie starring Helena Carter, Arthur Franz, and Jimmy Hunt.

    • The same week this episode was shown, another CBS show, Without a Trace, had a UFO/alien abduction theme to the show. This is the second time this season that both shows have had similar, unique themes (both season premieres dealt with a blind girl).
