    • Jane: (picking up Danny, who has been interrogating a sex shop owner) So, Softie's Joy Toy Emporium? Danny: Masters in Psychology, yeah? Analyze that. Jane: Well, work, not pleasure, I trust. Danny: Bit of both.

    • Terry: (briefing the Roughies) Bobby and Crystal Yo, model citizens until they gained permanent residency.
Maddock: And the worst father and daughter combo since Herod and Salome.
      Zack: Who?
      Danny: Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne.

    • Danny: (insultingly referring to Jane) Calamity Jane. Jane: (referring to Danny, in return) Oh, and 'Dan, Dan, the garbage man'.

    • Jane: Senior Customs Officer Jane Durant, and you are...? Danny: Never bloody mind. Jane: Oh. Well, 'Never bloody mind', you might want to know you've got a large bit of what I really hope is bergamot on your head and a dungy kind of smell.

    • Danny: (walking up to a car where Zack and Donna are having sex) You're married, for chrissakes! It's not normal! Zack: Piss off! Danny: (walking away) I mean, it really isn't normal.

    • Helen: (after being tortured) You'll never get the answers from me! Kevin: (smiling evilly) Now there's a challenge!

    • Ron: Congratulations, people! You are now officiallly known as the 'Code Orange Interagency Operational Task Force'. Jane: COIOTF?! Zack: Sounds like a bloody venereal disease. Danny: Who dreamed that up, Ron? Ron: Me!

    • Zack: So what are you saying, we're an elite squad, sort of? Ron: You'll be small footprint, low profile, rough and ready. You'll also be underfunded, under resourced, and and under the bloody hammer. Danny: You're sure you're not overselling it, Ron? Ron: Come on, fellas, this is New Zealand! But if you guys bugger it up...!

    Notes (15)

    • William Wallace (Tom) was nominated for "Best Performance by a Supporting Actor- Television" at the 2007 New Zealand Screen Awards.

    • In New Zealand, prostitution was made legal in 2003. It is legal for someone under the age of 18 to be a prostitute, but it is illegal for anyone to either profit from her work (pimp, or madam), or for any person to pay for those services. Apparently the law is designed to punish those who desire those services from underage girls, not the girls themselves.

    • The opening credits is accompanied by the song "Long White Cross" by one of New Zealand's best known bands, Pluto, from Auckland.

    • There was a bit of an uproar in New Zealand over the cast of Orange Roughies, since two of the show's most important characters, Danny and Jane, are played by Australians Nicholas Coghlan and Zoe Naylor.

    • The scene in which Donna (played by Nicole Whippy) hurls plates at Zack was the scene used for auditions for the part. Nicole had a friend who tried out for the part and was extremely jealous that she had gotten to do such a fun scene, only to be called in for audition for the role herself a few days later.

    • William Wallace was nominated for "Best Supporting Actor" at the 2007 New Zealand Screen Awards for his role of DC Tom Bowden.

    • Nick Kemplen, who plays Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry agent Noel Bullerton, is added to the opening credits of the show.

    • The Moores' company "Quercus" takes its name from the Latin name of the oak tree genus. There are about 400 different Quercus species, from the common Quercus rubra, or red oak of eastern North America, to the Quercus intricata, which is only found in a few isolated places in Texas and Mexico. White truffles grow symbiotically with oak trees, as well as hazel, poplar and beech.

    • The team learns for the first time that the other departments are calling them the "Orange Roughies".
