  • show Description
  • The after the success of Will Smith (music star gone television) in Fresh Prince, producers decided to try the concept with Patti LaBelle in Out All Night. The laughs come fast when a blues singer makes the nightclub scene...as the owner! Two recent college grads get the break of their lives when a hip lady not only gives them jobs...but takes them in! In the show, art imitates life, as Patti plays singing legend and Los Angeles nightclub owner Chelsea Paige. Best of all, LaBelle will get plenty of opportunities to show off her voice, as will other music greats Hammer, Luther Vandross, Gladys Knight, Boyz II Men, Dionne Warwick and other artists who will drop in from time to time. Besides Chelsea, this comedy centers around Jeff and Vidal. They're two guys who've just finished four tough years of college and are ready for some real fun. So they head for L.A. short on money, but full of big ideas. In no time, Vidal is chasing women and delivering pizzas, hoping to be discovered by some big motion picture studio. Meanwhile, Jeff, a New York University honor student who hopes to make his mark in the music business, is about to get the break of his life. Jeff can't believe his luck when Chelsea Paige offers him a job as manager/trainee at her trendy, hip, high-tech dance club. As if that wasn't enough, Chelsea even makes it possible for the boys to rent an apartment in her building. Suddenly, Jeff and Vidal are set. New Jobs, a new home, cash and all the freedom they ever dreamed of. But soon Chelsea's motherly instincts get in the way. The boys are being cooked for, fussed over...and even being tucked in every night. Chelsea's daughter Charisse warns them that there's no way out of this "family." But that's okay, because few dull moments and lots of laughs are in store along the way. Unfortunately, the show was pulled off the air by midseason only to be brought back to air remaining episodes in the summer of 93 alongside unaired A Different World episodes. Given the bad timeslot, the show was doomed to fail.moreless

    • After noticing the success of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" with rapper Will Smith, the producers tried to duplicate it by putting diva Patti LaBelle into this sitcom. A musical guest was even featured in nearly every episode. It didn't work though; the show only lasted one season.

    • The series is moved to Fridays but is pulled after this airing. NBC annouced that this show would be canceled the following week due to low ratings.
