    • Lowen: You fucking cocksucker. You swore to me that you would never let me serve a day! Devlin: Wilson, they were burning down the city. Lowen: Correction! They were burning down their city, their neighborhood, their businesses. Devlin: The violence was escalating, spreading - Lowen: So you send in the National Guard, tear gas, rubber bullets. What you don't do is betray a life long friend. What you don't do is humiliate a man, especially when that man knows where the bodies are buried. I want my pardon, Jimmy, and I want it fucking today. I'm not going to spend another night in this cesspool. Do you understand me? I don't care what kind of political typhoon it causes. If you don't give me my pardon, I will call a press conference and I will tell tales, Jimmy, tales of corruption, tales of graft, tales of voter fraud. By the time I'm finished, you'll be sitting right next to me in unit J playing par-fucking-cheesi.

    • (Ryan has been informed that Devlin plans for Cyril to receive electroshock therapy) Ryan: That's genius. Devlin wants to electroshock Cyril to make him normal enough to electrocute him.

    • Sister Pete: It sounds like he's going for an insanity defense in his appeal. Mukada: No, he keeps saying, "I'm not crazy, I'm not crazy." Don't get me wrong ... I think that he's crazy.

    • (Three guards have just locked themsleves in a cell with Morlaes) White: Yo, Penders, you think Morales is going to get his farm foreclosed?

    • Howell: Good morning, my beloveds. Got a news flash for you. Your pal Martinez bought the farm. White: Farm? What farm? Penders: He died, stupid. What'd he die from? Howell: I don't know, but whatever he had, you clucks have it, too. Penders: Are you sure? Howell: That's the scuttlebutt. Penders: Shit. Howell: If I were you, I'd pay up my insurance premiums. White: Wait, wait, wait, wait wait, look, buying a farm is a good thing, right? I, I, I mean, why that ... tell me, why does that have to mean dying? Penders: Shut up, Omar. White: No, look, now that don't make no sense. Sold the farm, lost the farm, the farm burned down, but - Penders: Shut up, Omar! White: That don't make no goddamn sense.

    Allusions (2)

    • When Said meets with the publishers to discuss Hill's book, they state that Hill's family would not get the money from the sales because the state has The Son of Sam Law. The law, which is designed to stop criminals from profiting from the story of their crimes, was named after serial killer David Berkowitz a.k.a. "the Son of Sam". The law authorizes the state to seize all the profits from a publishing deal and give them to the victim's family. The law has remained controversial however, with detractors arguing it would have prevented the publishing of The autobiography of Malcolm X among other books. The law was ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1991 and struck down in New York, however it still remains in many other states, albeit rarely used.

    • Lowen: So, I said, "Ronnie, you tell Nancy to keep her panties on." O'Connor: And did he? Lowen: Hell, no, when it came to that woman, the great communicator had no voice at all. This is refering to Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Ronald was the 40th president of the United States and was nicknamed "The Great Communicator" by the media. Nancy was his wife.
