  • When Tom was arrested for breaking into his own van, the scene was a nod to the incident in 2009 when Harvard professor Henry Gates was arrested for breaking into his own house. ¬†Later in the episode Tom suggests to the police officer that sometime they grab a drink together. ¬†After his arrest, Gates, the arresting officer and President Obama shared beers at the White House.
