Allusions (2)

  • Hammer: Like our Blue Angel-.
The Blue Angels, the Airforce Thunderbirds and the Canadian Snowbirds are precision flying teams which perform in airshows flying fighter jets in close formation and are very popular attractions. Major Rittman is said to be part of the Luftwaffe "demo team" which is like the Blue Angels.  The West German Navy had such a team known as the Vikings. However,  they performed for the last time on 27 September 1986 due to the retirement of the F-104 from West German Navy service. Germany has no current demo teams in service.

  • The episode title, "C.Q.," stands for carrier qualifications or carrier quals - landing a jet on an aircraft carrier.
