  • Johannes Gutenberg has just invented his claim to fame – the printing press. However, Brain has a different use for it in mind. Pretty soon, Brain trading cards are everywhere. His aim is to come to power via instant popularity.

    • This cartoon was first aired as part of episode 15 which featured the cartoons "Collect 'Em All" and "Pinkasso". The gag credit for episode 12 is: Aerophobia - Fear of air.

    • The Pied Piper of Hamelin: In the background of Brain's antics in this episode, the plot of the old story The Pied Piper of Hamelin is being played out. In the story, a town pays a piper to hypnotize the rats and lure them out of their village. When they refuse to pay him after he does this, he hypnotizes the town's children and leads them to a river to drown. In the episode, the piper is first seen trying to lure Pinky and the Brain. Later a townsperson mentions that they hired a piper to get rid of the rodents but 'didn't actually pay him', followed by a the piper heading towards a river with children behind him.

    • Gutenberg Bible: When Johannes Gutenberg holds up a book and declares he finally has something to sell, he holds up a copy of the Bible. Gutenberg invented the world's first mechanical printing press, and with this technology became the first to mass produce copies of the Bible. This first printed Bible came to be known as 'The Gutenberg Bible'
