British drama of intrigue and suspense on the Cornish coast

    By didi-5, Apr 16, 2009

A classic 1970s drama from the United Kingdom, 'Poldark' takes Winston Graham's romantic novels and turns them into a potboiler of a series with romance, jealousy, smuggling, murder, rivalries, and a brooding Robin Ellis as leading man Ross Poldark, who comes back from the army to find his life turned upside down and the world a changing place. A tight costume drama with beautiful scenery, 'Poldark' really does deserve the label of classic, even if some of the scenery is showing its age now and the acting is a little ham at times. For fans of Catherine Cookson and of mysteries at sea, this should be perfect television viewing.moreless
