    • Jason: Alright, I'm in! Zack: Me too! Billy: Affirmative! Trini: You can count on me! Kimberly: I don't know you guys, I mean the outfits are cool and everything, but my hair gets all tangled inside the helmet. I don't think I can do it. Trini: Oh no, Kimberly. Alpha: Kimberly, no! Kimberly: NOT!

    • Alpha: (After Kimberly says she won't be able to be a Power Ranger he starts smoking) System overload! System overload! Ayiyiyi... Kimberly: Alpha! I was kidding! Alpha: (Suddenly calm) Oh, humor... what a concept.

    • Squatt: Rita, wake up! Wake up! We're free! (Rita rises from the dumpster) Rita: Ahh! Squatt: Uh-oh! Morning breath! Let me give you a mint!

    • Finster: Oh, it's good to be free after 10,000 years!

    • Alpha: Danger! DANGER! It's the BIG one! I know it! We'll all be destroyed! Zordon: Calm down, Alpha! It's Rita. She's escaped, and she's attacking the planet. Alpha: Ay-yi-yi! What do we do?! Zordon: Teleport to us five overbearing and over-emotional humans. Alpha: No, not that! Not teenagers! Zordon: That's correct, Alpha. Alpha: I was afraid of that.

    • Kimberly: This day is too weird!!

    • Billy: (On Alpha) A fully sentient, multi-functional automaton!

    • Zack: We were talking to a giant floating head!

    Notes (3631)

    • Though they're not named onscreen, the original names for Goldar, Baboo, and Squatt were Dredwing, Mongo, and Grock.

    • Though this episode features footage from the first few episodes of the Sentai Zyuranger, footage from the first episode of an earlier Sentai, Bioman can be seen during the "viewing globe" scene when the skyscraper launches into the air. This was an inside joke by the crew, as Bioman was the Japanese show Saban first tried and failed to bring over years prior, though in dubbed-only form.

    • The first scene of the episode features a brief part of the song "Higher Ground" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which was removed in the aired version. Ironically, this song would end up on the soundtrack for MMPR:TM two years later.

    • A slightly edited version of this episode finally aired in the Power Rangers: The Lost Episode special, with the opening credits removed, numerous punches and kicks to the heads of any of the bad guys (be they bullies or Putties) edited out, and the word "Droids" changed to "Zords".

    • The only scene (aside from Sentai footage) from this pilot to make it into the final version of "Day Of The Dumpster" is the explosion in the desert when Rita fires at the teens as they walk away from the Command Center. Also, a close-up shot of the two confused Putties ends up appearing in "Foul Play In The Sky."

    • Paul Schrier, who'll go on to play Bulk on the show for many years, has a small role as an unnamed bully with very wild hair.

    • Finster's voice is the only one of the Evil Space Aliens to be different, and his voice actor is currently unknown.

    • This episode ran only 16 minutes long.

    Trivia (2017)

    • The "Flyguy" monster will be used later in the series, re-named "King Sphinx", in "A Pressing Engagement".

    • The interior design of the Command Center is entirely different in this episode. As is that of Alpha 5's body (though his voice is the same). Zordon is called "Zoltar", and is a big GREEN head in a tube, with a more articulated face. The Power Morphers are called Transmorphers. Zack is listed as "Zach". And of course, Trini is played by an entirely different actress than in the series.

    • Billy wears different glasses in this episode. They are the same glasses found in the picture on the back of the first five MMPR original VHS releases.

    • Goof: Goldar is supposed to be down on Earth, however when the scene cuts to Rita's moon base he can clearly be seen behind Rita who is about to throw her wand to Earth, which makes Goldar and Flyguy grow.

    • A slightly edited version of this episode finally aired in the Power Rangers: The Lost Episode special, with the opening credits removed, numerous punches and kicks to the heads of any of the bad guys (be they bullies or Putties) edited out, and the word "Droids" changed to "Zords" (Due to Lucasfilm having Droids trademarked).

    • Goof: Dredwing is supposed to be down on Earth, however when the scene cuts to Rita's moon base he can clearly be seen behind Rita who is about to throw her wand to Earth, which makes Dredwing and Flyguy grow.

    • The three basic rules for being a Power Ranger are mentioned for the first time in this episode: 1. Never use your power for personal gain. 2. Never escalate a battle unless Rita forces you. 3. Keep your identity secret. No one may know you are a Power Ranger.

    • The Rangers morph by shouting, "It's Morphin' Time!" (starting with "High Five"), and then holding their Power Morphers forward (usually removing them from behind their back, as if they're stored on the opposite side of their belt from the buckle), and calling out their respective Dinozord's dinosaur name within the Morpher-framed morphing sequence.

    • Zach: Yeah, and I'm a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!
Zach's sarcastic reply to Zoltar refers to the highly popular children's program which Power Rangers helped to de-throne in the early 90s.

    • Just prior to the breaking news about the astronauts on the moon, the dubbed anime (also by Saban Entertainment, as this show was), Samurai Pizza Cats, is playing on the TV in the bowling alley. The episode featured is the show's premiere, "Stop Dragon My Cat Around!

    • When Squatt & Baboo light the fuse for the bomb near the time device in the Time Warp, a similar musical cue to the Mission Impossible theme song plays, parodying the opening credits of that show, which involved a lit fuse on a bomb.

    • Towards the end of the episode, Kimberly says that her friend Melissa is a "miracle worker". This could be an allusion to a play and movie with the same title that featured the early life of deaf/blind Helen Keller.

    • The title of this episode was taken from the 1968 hit song "Different Drum", sung by Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Poneys, and written by Michael Nesmith of The Monkees.

    • Title: N/A
The title of the episode is a pun on the title of the Ernest Hemingway novel, "For Whom The Bell Tolls."
