  • show Description
  • Wanda Talbert (Connie Sellecca) and Joey Paciorek (Greg Evigan) had been unlikely and unenthusiastic partners in an N.Y.P.D. sting operation that had gone bad. She was a con artist and, to keep from going to prison, agreed to set up a mobster, and he was a detective coordinating the operation. When it fell apart, she would have to testify against him, and that will not take place for a few years, she and Joey entered the witness protection program and were relocated to Palm Springs, California to hide from the vengeful mobster. Once they assumed the identities of Dani and Cody Powell, a "married" couple working for Palm Security and Investigations, a local security and detective agency. Matthew Durning (Earl Holliman), who ran the agency, was the only one who knew who they really were. Cody and Dani spent most of their time working cases for P.S.I. and fighting with each other. The combination of an honest, analytical cop and a creative con artist, even though they didn't like each other much, made them a very effective team. Dani even managed to convince Durning to let them stay in a huge mansion, whose owner was almost never in Palm Springs, as live-in security guards. • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (58)

    • Cody: How do you always manage to stay so damn optimistic? Dani: Well, my father used to always tell me 'Every cloud has a silver lining'. Cody: Mine used to tell me that things always look darkest right before they go completely black.

    • Cody: Carole Mallory's gotta be guilty after all. Dani: Cody, judging people is how I make my living, Carole Mallory's no more guilty than I am. Cody: Having committed my future to that premise, I think I'll just suck on a Police Special.

    • Dani: I'm entitled to have friends, aren't I? Cody: Yeah, new friends, not old ones who can pass your whereabouts back to the bum in New York who wants you dead! That's why you're in the Witness Protection Program!

    • (Uncle Ray wants to borrow a car to meet a 'guest' who will be staying with them) Cody: Why do I feel like I just bought the Brooklyn Bridge?

    • (Fuji suggests calling Washington about the high-tech weapon) Fuji (laughing): We're looking for someone who hangs out with Darth Vader. (Durning is not amused, Fuji stops laughing) Fuji: Or at least, has access to his toys.

    • Uncle Ray (to Dani): It's my strong recommendation that you don't start cheating on a husband who carries a gun.

    • Dani (to Cody): You're so desperate to get back to being a cop, you'll make up a crime!

    • (Santana asks Dani to witness the death certificate) Dani: Practically do that for a living.

    Notes (3)

    • The Pilot Part 2 is the only time in the series where the entire theme song plays. It plays at the end of the episode while Cody makes dinner (as if from Cody's POV) then continues in the final credits (as if from Dani's) with the end part of the song, which becomes the final credits of several episodes in the first part of the series.

    • The theme song, P.S. I Luv U, is sung by Greg Evigan and Suzanne Fountain, but in the show's end theme, you see Dani (Connie Sellecca) and Cody (Greg Evigan) in a club where they sing the song to each other, and Connie Seleca mimes the female vocals.

    • 2 hours.

    Trivia (2)

    • The title of the series refers to Dani's phone number PSI-LUVU (774-5888) at Palm Security and Investigations.

    • "Call me Bugsy." The name of the episode referring to the infamous Benjamin 'Bugsy' Siegel. Handsome charmer, violent gangster and often remembered for building 'The Flamingo' hotel in what is today known as Las Vegas, Nevada. He was murdered in a gangland hit on 20 June 1947 at the age of 42. The episode ties several facts about Siegel into the storyline. Though in the episode, Siegel is called 'Bugsy', in real life, no-one dared call him that to his face for fear of triggering his violent temper.
