  • Episode Description
  • Shawn and Gus spot an art thief whom Lassiter has been trying to arrest for years. So, although they are on a skiing vacation in Canada, they appeal to the local constabulary with mixed results: someone gets axed, another finds himself interrogated and Pierre Despereaux may get away scot-free, once again.

  • As far as season premieres go, even without the staple dead body, ‘Extradition: British Columbia’ doesn’t disappoint. It delivers it’s signature blend of humor and wit while successfully addressing some of the developments in Season 3.

  • Quotes (5)

    • Gus: Shawn, I gotta pee. Shawn: I told you to go back at the hotel! Gus: I couldn't! I got freaked out! There were rose petals everywhere, all over the toilet! Why would they do that? It's weird! Shawn: It's not weird. It's wonderful!

    • Shawn: Pardon me! If everyone would like to adjourn to the roof, the psychic criminal-catching portion of the day is about to be begin. Lassiter: Everyone just please stay where you are… He does this all the time.

    • Shawn: But I have a point. It's this: I refuse to feel uncomfortable around you. It's silly. You mean too much to me. And… and I am perfectly capable of keeping this platonic as long as you are. Juliet: Oh, please! I can. Shawn: I can, too! Juliet: Great. (Juliet walks away.) Shawn: (to himself) But how?

    • Lassiter: Can you believe that? A high-ranking member of U.S. law enforcement not being allowed to carry his weapon on him! Juliet: Did you really think it wouldn't set off the metal detector? Lassiter: I've got to get my hands on a gun, O'Hara. I have enemies everywhere. Maybe I can pick up one at the hotel. Juliet: Oh, absolutely, right downstairs in the gift shop. They have Kleenex, mixed nuts, and 9-millimeter Lugers.

    • Shawn: You've seen the Mentalist, right? Cop: Yes. Shawn: It's like that. Gus: Except that guy's a fake. Shawn: Right, if I was a fake psychic it would be eerily similar. Gus: Exactly. Shawn: A virtual carbon copy.

    Trivia (7)

    • Psych-out: Gag reel from the RCMP station shoot.

    • Goof: This episode is purported to have taken place in Whistler during the summer. Yet, Whistler/Blackcomb mountains barely have snow in January, let alone in the summer.

    • Pineapple Spotting: Behind the mime there is a pineapple balloon.

    • Goof: In Cpl. Hugh MacKintosh's book, there is a typo in the the estimated price of the crown. The decimal point is a comma, and is misplaced: 950,000-1,000,00,000 USD. It should have been: 950,000-1,000,000.00 USD.

    • Production Detail: The last scene at the bridge with Shawn and Juliet breaks what is in camera work considered the 180 degree rule. While the long shots of the bridge, show them facing one side, the conversation in the subsequent close-ups show them as if they were on the other side. While this is usually not done because it breaks continuity, it was purposely shot that way for effect.

Remington Steele was an art thief turned detective also played by Pierce Brosnan in the TV show Remington Steele running from 1982-1987.
