  • show Description
  • The story of a young girl who tries her best to bring beauty and happiness to the Earth. She wears a magic belt known as the Color Belt which is activated by a handful of Star Sprinkles brings forth a powerful rainbow. She is assisted by her faithful talking horse Starlite, 'the most magnificent horse in the entire universe' and her personal sprite Twink. She lives with the Color Kids in the wonderful Rainbowland. But not everything is always peaceful, they occasionally get opposition from Murky Dismal and Lurky from the gloomy Pits. Try as they might, these two bumbleheads can't seem to succeed. At least they never give up. The fun never ends in Rainbowland thanks to other colorful visitors.moreless

    • (Wisp sees something shiny in the back of the cave) Wisp: Oh, look! (she brings back an old belt) Twink: It looks like something Murky would wear. Wisp: It doesn't look like much, does it? Starlight: We'll find the one we're after! Wisp: We'll just have to keep looking! (puts on the belt) It must have been something beautiful once. Twink: But not very special. (the belt glows and becomes shiny and new) Wisp: It is! It is the Color Belt! (to Starlight) And you said "who needs a baby?" If it weren't for her, we never would have come in here!

    • (Wisp and the others enter a cave to get out of the rain) Twink: It goes waaay back! Starlight: It won't be any drier back there.

    • Wisp: Look, there's a cave here! Let's get the baby out of this rain! Twink: Maybe there are monsters in there... Starlight: If there are, at least they're dry!

    • Starlight: Legends say--just legends, mind you--that there is a special Color Belt...it's the only way to fight! Wisp: Where do we find this Color Belt? Starlight: Well, the legends say...it's in the river. Twink: (shaking) The No-Return River? Starlight: The Evil One threw it in long, long ago...so the legends say.

    • (Wisp is transported to the gloomy new world) Voice: Are you sure you still want to save this world, little Wisp? Wisp: Yes. It's even worse close up... Voice: Find the light and the color of this world and set it free, and the darkness will disappear. Wisp: But...where do I start? Voice: Look for the Spear of Light.

    • (Wisp washes up on shore next to an abandoned baby) Wisp: A baby! (to baby) You'll be all right... (Starlight washes up on shore) Starlight: Wisp! What a magnificent sight you are! Wisp: Starlight! I found a baby! Starlight: Just what we need...a baby...

    • (Wisp and Twink are walking around frozen sprites) Wisp: How evil can he be if he keeps such beautiful statues? Twink: They're not statues...

    • Murky: I'm going to make that rainbow girl so gloomy she'll never want to see colors again!

    Trivia (8)

    • When Wisp first sees the other Color Kids calling to her in the form of bubbles, Indigo is shown as being Caucasian, when she is in fact Indian.

    • This episode marks the first time Wisp is called Rainbow Brite. A purple star appears on her left cheek to symbolize her status as protector of Rainbowland.

    • When Murky kidnapped three color kids, we intitally see La La Orange, Buddy Blue and Indigo. Then when Wisp rescues them, Buddy Blue is gone and we see Patty O' Green. Wisp already had rescued her before, she left her at the Color Cave with Red Butler and Canary Yellow.

    • At the very end of the episode, Murky and Lurky blast a gloom cloud at Brian to get into the Color Castle. Then Lurky runs and grabs him while Murky goes inside to get Rainbow. You see Lurky holding Brian in the doorway and Brian is making muffled sounds, like he can't yell because his mouth is covered…but it isn't.

    • This episode also shows Stormy on her black horse, although she is never named. In the scene where the kids scatter to avoid the crashing ship, she can be seen leaving, near Indigo.

    • This episode seems to show very briefly the pink color kid, Tickled Pink. You see her when the color kids run out of the castle and look around, after it cuts to Murky asking what's happening as the space ship collides. When it cuts back the kids, she is visible on the right of the screen.

    • Throughout the entire episode, Rainbow Brite's side ponytail keeps switching sides.

    • This is the first episode in which Tickled Pink talks (it might be the only one). She's the girl in pink that tries to get through the Color Castle doors with the buckets of water, and ends up going backwards.
