  • Quotes (5)

    • Fred (dressed as a gorilla, to Esther) Don't we make a nice couple? King Kong, and the bride of Frankenstein!

    • Rollo: What's happening, Pops? Fred: World War 3. Rollo: World War 3? Fred: Yeah. Why else would they let you out of jail?!

    • Fred: Listen Bubba will you do me a favor? There's a turkey in the oven. Lie down next to it.

    • Fred (clicking the TV remote): Hello, Lucy! Hello, Jolly Green Giant! Good-bye, Tidy Bowl!

    • Harry: What is your name, Sir? Bubba: I am Leif Ericson and I'm a Viking. Harry: Okay, I'll give you $500 if you have...a tube of lipstick! Bubba: What would I do with a tube of lipstick? I'm a Viking, not a VIQUEEN!

    Notes (2)

    • This is the first time in the series that the live studio audience became a part of the cast. Fred, Grady, and Bubba are shown sitting with the audience, most of whom are clearly not actors and very much enjoying the scene.

    • John Barbour auditioned as host of The Gong Show, but was rejected. He would fare better as co-host of Real People.

    Allusions (1)

    • Wheel and Deal is an obvious parody of Let's Make a Deal, which once aired on NBC (and at the time currently aired on ABC and syndication). Everything is duplicated -- from the host's name (Harry Monty, a parody of real-life host Monty Hall) to the game's basic premise (option to trade a sure thing for an unknown, which could be a really good prize or a worthless zonk) and the contestants wearing zany costumes.
