  • Fan Reviews (1)
  • Minnesota Viking Fran Tarkenton hosts this episode as the first athlete to do so while he brings along Leo Sayer and Donny Harper & the Voices of Tomorrow as his musical guests!

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (1)

    • Heather: (notices the agent looking at her answers) Miss Branshat, Miss Branshat! Amy's cheating! Amy Carter: I am not! Heather: You are, too! Amy Carter: I am not! Heather: You are, too! (Sensing a security violation, the Secret Service agents quickly stuff Heather into her desk and pound on the top) Miss Branshat: (interceding) Stop that at once! Secret Service Agent #1: Sorry, Miss Branshat, it won't happen again.

    Notes (4)

    • Dick Schaap (a reporter for NBC Sports as well as multiple news shows) can be seen in an audience shot just after the "French Liquid" fake commercial.

    • Fran Tarkenton is the first athlete to host SNL.

    • First on-screen appearance of writer and frequent bit player James Downey; he joined the SNL writing staff with the Ralph Nader/George Benson broadcast. As of 2008, he is the longest-serving writer in the show's history.

    • This may be coincidence, but Fran Tarkenton never got back to the Super Bowl after hosting SNL. He and the rest of the Vikings had just come off a Super Bowl defeat to the Oakland Raiders on January 9 (which NBC televised).

    Trivia (1)

    • Fran Tarkenton incorrectly introduces Donnie Harper's singing group as the "Voices of America."
