Quotes (3)

  • Shaggy: Quick! Into the hospital! Scrappy: But we're not sick! Shaggy: Like, we will be if that sergeant catches us! (the three friends enter the military hospital, and the sergeant stops to look around) Sergeant: Where'd they go?!

  • Leprechaun: What luck. Just in time for the Big Deal of the Irish! Scooby and Shaggy: Big Deal?! (the Leprechaun conjures up 3 numbered doors, ala Let's Make a Deal) Leprechaun: Behind one of these doors is me pot of gold. Which shall it be? Door #1? Or Door #2? Or Door #3?! (Shaggy opens Door #1) Shaggy: Like, uh, I'll take Door #1. (he enters the door) Scooby: (counts the doors) 1, 2, 3? Shaggy: ZOINKS! Look, Scoob! (Scooby sees him come out of the door, with...) Shaggy: FOOD!

  • Yabba: I'm the fastest shovel in the West!
Scrappy: And the East, too. Huh, Uncle Yabba?
    Yabba: Yep!
(he and Scrappy shovel rapidly, until...)
Dusty: HOLD IT! Not that fast!
(the two dogs stop and see Yabba's master covered in dirt from his legs to the neck-up)
Yabba: Sorry, Deputy D. Guess we got carried away.

  • This episode is loosely based on the comic book story "Mark Of The Blue Scarab" (Scooby Doo Mystery Comics #24, Gold Key, April 1974). The comic story and this episode were written by Mark Evanier.

  • This episode starts a new chronicle in the Scooby-Doo franchise. Previously, the franchise was known for Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? and The Scooby-Doo Movies.

  • An English "No Waiting" road sign appears late on in this episode. To see what one looks like visit http://www.highwaycode.gov.uk/sign061.shtml and you will see! This sign appeared in the UK in 1971. The US got the same sign in July 1979.

  • One of the best episodes in the Scooby and Scrappy series, but why does the title card have a voice over saying "We now return to Scooby and Scrappy Doo" rather than the standard opening theme?

  • This is the last episode where Pat Stevens voiced Velma. I believe she left to become a college professor (or she got sick of Scrappy or something like that).

  • At this point Maria Frumkin takes over for Pat Stevens as the voice of Velma.

  • This is the first overall episode of a Scooby series (other than Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics or the prime time special Scooby Goes Hollywood) that doesn't involve a mystery.

Trivia (15)

  • Last episode in which Pat Stevens voices Velma. From the next ep on, she will have a third voice, Maria Frumkin.

  • This episode ends with the credits for the original series.

  • The animators once again forgot to put winter clothes on Shaggy, Scooby-Doo, and Scrappy-Doo, during the outdoor scenes.

  • Only from the neck down does Shaggy look like a frog when the witch changes him. His face looks the same save for the fact it and his hair have a green tint (Frogs don't actually have hair, do they?). And how is it that the ghost is able to change into a frog as well? The witch's magic really should have passed through him.

  • The animators forgot to dress Scooby, Shaggy, and Scrappy in winter clothes during the outdoor scenes.

  • Surely one of the lamest episodes here, how is it that an extended steam session changes Scooby and Shaggy into babies? And when they change back near the end, Shaggy's clothes magically reappear after wearing little more than a diaper. It would have been more amusing to see him still in the diaper upon getting back to his normal age.

  • Scooby, Shaggy, and Scrappy were wearing gypsy disguises before they were changed into two giant chickens and a little lion, respectively. After they retrieved the amulet, they were changed back, but with Shaggy in his standard green shirt and maroon pants and the dogs with just their collars.

  • A shrunken Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy each wear springs in an effort to get to the shrink ray. Scooby is captured by the evil scientist and loses his spring in the process. When Shag and Scrappy bounce into action to rescue him, the next shot has Scooby wearing the same spring he previously lost.
