  • show Description
  • "This is the year two thousand and twenty. The place is the Challenger Seamount, the top of an underwater mountain. A complex beneath the sea. 250 men, women and children live here, each of them a scientist pioneer. For this is our last frontier, a hostile environment which may hold the key to tomorrow. Each day, these oceanauts meet new challenges as they build their city beneath the sea. This is Sealab 2020." Commanded by Doctor Paul Williams, the Sealab researchers explored the nearby ocean floor with advanced technology like the Deep Diver craft. Only 13 episodes of Sealab 2020 were ever made, and the show was not rerun in following years. In 2001, Cartoon Network reworked footage from the show into Sealab 2021, part of their "Adult Swim" block of programming. Dialog was redubbed with often risque, adult-oriented humor replacing the serious child-oriented lines and ecological messages of the original show.moreless

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Notes (8)

    • Most of this episode was used to remix the Sealab 2021 episode of I, Robot, the 1st aired pilot.

    • Lots of clips used from this one episode were used in about 5 episodes of "Sealab 2021".

    • Almost all of this episode's animation was used to make Sealab 2021's "Happy Cake" episode, where the seismograph unit is actually changed into an easy-bake oven, and the captain who wanted them to place the unit is now a miscellaneous frenchman.

    • Some of the footage from this episode was used in a Sealab 2021 episode called "The Policy" with a similar storyline, except the aztec treasure was changed into pirate treasure.

    • In December 2000, this episode was redone by the Sealab 2021 crew with the 2021 cast's voices and cut down to 11 minutes so it could fit into 2021's timeslot. Unlike the rest of the Sealab 2021 shows, this one stays true to the episode it draws from. This Sealab 2021 Episode is entitled "7211," presumably after the original episode number.

    • sealab 2021 mixed this up #7211 - "Collision of the Aquarius." Postponed from December 1st 2002. Rumor has it, that Cartoon Network got confused by the fact that "Policy" was originally scheduled to air this date, and "7211" earlier, and got the tapes mixed up. Whoopsie! This episode is basically Sealab's 2020 episode 7211 "Collision of the Aquarius", only dubbed by the cast of Sealab 2021, and edited so that it will fit into the 11 minute model that all of Sealab 2021's episodes are in. The only footage added in (Besides the opening and closing credits) was a sign in the middle of the episode that said "Insert Commerical Here". Re-make of an episode of Sealab 2020

    • This episode was partially completed. The scenes that were finished, were used in Sealab 2021.

    • This was a sketched episode. No color was added to it, and it was all in test version.

    Trivia (3)

    • Captain Murphy's jaw consitantly moves weirdly, making his words and mouth not match. However, this wasn't the reason it was never aired.

    • The shark in this episode was later used in [adult swim] shows (2 for episodes and 1 for show). It was used as a name, "Old Kentucky Shark" from the SGC2C episode, "Kentucky Nightmare." It was also used in the 2nd ATHF episode, "Escape from Leprauchpolis." And it was later used as a character named, "Shark" in a show, "12 Oz. Mouse."

    • The voice of Sparks sounds like an old farmer.
