    • (Whitney show him a note in which is wrote "Will you marry me?") Whitney: It's time, don't you think? Roy: It has been so long my mother stopped pressuring me! Roy: But you wanted to wait... Whitney: I know but things have fallen into places and it feels right Roy! Roy: I can't wait to marry you, but isn't it a guy's unalienable right to do the asking? Whitney: It's 2006, men marry men!

    • (on the phone) Mae: I don't know what I was thinking Eric, I'm not comfortable, I went out for a night with some friends and.. Eric: Did the cops booked you? Mae: No, I got them to drop the charges. Eric: But did they take your picture you they booked you? (Silence) Eric: You should leave! Mae: I don't want to. Eric: You don't have a choice... Mae: I'm sick of running man! I.. I just started to feel normal here, I started to feel safe. Eric: He said he would never stop looking, he won't.

    • (Carlos calling Mae's number) Recorded Voice: We are sorry, your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again. Heidi: That girl gave you a wrong number? There is a shocker!

    • Whitney: I don't want to plan the wedding. Roy: (surprised) You don't? Whitney: No, the headaches, the countless details, let's just get married. I was thinking the 30th. Roy: Of? Whitney: This month. A nice simple ceremony at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge. It'll be nice. We can plan it over lunch. Roy: Huh, wow, that's, really soon!

    • Whitney: Another thing, you could stand to be a bit more effusive about it, it's something very serious. Steven: I am serious! Whitney: Not today, you must've had a sense of humor at some point. Steven: In 1994, I told a joke. People seemed to enjoy it. Whitney: You know what it is? It's your tone. You need to watch that, it makes you sound like you know better. Steven: How could I when you know best? (Whitney glares) Steven: I thought the objective was humor!

    • Laura: Ross, I did not go to Art Center, Pasadena, but I have been through a great deal in my life, and for the last 8 years I have been a stay at home mom, so I am well-versed in how to deal with a petulant child. The fate of your furniture rests in my hands. You want it back? It's simple. Introduce me to JT, and get an intern to do your crap work. Ross: (smugly) Meet JT. (Points to JT, who's sitting in the room.)

    • (On the phone) Mae: You didn't awnsered my question. Is there any chances that mom is still alive? Eric: Mae! Mae: Eric, she was here, she was in New York city. Eric: It wasn't her! Mae: I need to know that -- for sure. I have someone.. I have a friend who's helping me out maybe he can.. Eric: If she were alive and wanted us to know where she was, we would know.

    • Carlos: You're not going to tell me who she is aren't you? Mae: Maybe -- Someday! Carlos: Do you think we will know each other that long?

    Trivia (2)

    • Goof: When Laura first spots Damian proposing, there's a man sitting at the end of the parkbench, to the left of the screen. But when the camera pans across to hear what Damian is saying, the man has disappeared. Moments later when Regina accepts and jumps into Damian's arms, the man on the parkbench reappears.

    • This is the last time that Steven's ex-wife, Christine (played by Carey Lowell) appears in the series. However, she does not have an acting role in this episode as she is only seen in the 'previously on...' recap at the beginning of the episode and in the photograph that Ray returns (via Damian) to Steven.

    Allusions (4)

    • Roy: And by fairy tale, I mean Beauty and the Beast. Beauty and the Beast is a traditional folktale. The first published version of the fairy tale was a meandering rendition by Madame Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve, published in La jeune américainev, et les contes marins in 1740.

    • James Bond Whitney: Thank you, and you…you’re a James Bond villain? The James Bond novels and films are notable for their memorably despicable villains and henchmen. From Le Chiffre's encounter with Bond in the original Casino Royale novel in 1953 to Colonel Moon/Gustav Graves' assault on the Korean Demilitarized Zone in the 2002 film, Die Another Day, Bond's foes have been one of the most important reasons for the book and film series' continued popularity

    • Episode title: "Slings and Arrows" "Slings and Arrows" refers to a line from Shakespeare's Hamlet contained in the famous "To be, or not to be" speech.

    • Happy Feet Mae: Laura took Eliza to see that new penguin movie. A reference to the film Happy Feet, which was released in November 2006, when this episode was originally set to air.
