    • Ichabod: And what, pray tell, was I doing in your dream?
Abbie: Freaking me out even more than usual.

    • Jenny: Who are you? Abbie's new boyfriend?
Ichabod: We are amicable, and yes, I am male, but I suspect you're implying something else.
Jenny: What's your name, tall, dark, and British?
Ichabod: My name is Ichabod Crane.
Jenny: Huh. What do your friends call you? Icky?
Ichabod: Not if they wish to remain my friends.
Jenny: Hmm. Sense of humor, too.

    • Ichabod: What is the cause of the rift between you and Miss Jenny?
Abbie: I told you, it's complicated.
Ichabod: I was born more than two centuries ago, and my wife is prisoner in some otherworldly realm. I'm no stranger to complications.

    • Ichabod: I requested coffee from the charwoman in the entrance hall, but she said you're particular to this beverage.
Abbie: She's called a receptionist. Or Wendy.

    • Seamus: I don't know where you came from, but you can drop your "friend of the tribe" schtick. No one's a chief, no one lives in teepees, and no one has powwows. Got it?
Ichabod: You stopped having powwows? I rather enjoyed those.

    Allusions (3)

    • Irving: The last thing we need around here is another episode of The Twilight Zone.
Referencing the 1959-1964 series The Twilight Zone, created by Rod Serling. The anthology series featured fantastical stories, often with a twist ending, and occasionally featured supernatural occurrences and time travel.

    • Seamus: You guys into time travel? I got a tricked-out DeLorean in mint condition.
Referencing the Back to the Future movies (1985) starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, a teenager who travels through time using his mentor Doc Brown's (Christopher Lloyd) time-traveling device, mounted in a DeLorean.

    • Seamus: You want me to go all kemosabe and cast a spell and do a rain dance?
Referencing the radio and TV series, The Lone Ranger. A Texas Ranger named Reid is the last survivor of an ambush. His childhood friend Tonto finds him and nurses him back to health. Reid dons a mask and rides into the Old West, fighting evil and tyranny with his faithful sidekick at his side. Tonto refers to his friend using the fictional term "kemosabe," which in various incarnations means either "trusty scout" or "faithful friend."

maybe just maybe...if she would have shot the gun off the old mans hand or at least shot his hand he would not have killed himself, but it is a tv show! :)

I'm actually liking this. Agreed, not as good as Grimm but it's not another CSI or Law & Order. I like the spin on the civil war angle . This week was eerie and suspenseful...and advancing the sister in the asylum storyline kept my intrigued. I'm hoping it gets better and better with each episode.
