    • Jamie: (pointing to the set background) What's this for, Dad?
Ted: Oh, this great, huh? You see the blue represents the universe and the white dots are the stars and if you stand in front of it like this, it looks like you're way out in space, huh? What do you think?
Jamie: I think we're in big trouble.
Ted: Gee, I-I thought it was pretty clever.
Jamie: Well, it'll have to do, for now. But could you put some more stars on it and could you hurry it up a little, please?
Ted: Well, you know when you think of how long it took to create the universe, I think I'm going pretty fast.

    • Jamie: Hi, Dad.
Ted: Oh, hi, Mr. Director. How do you like all the props, huh?
Jamie: (looking at the green rocks) Is this the best you can do, Dad? I mean the kids in class aren't going to believe these are rocks on an alien planet.
Ted: Why not? How many alien planets have they been to?(chuckles)

    • Harriet: Can I be in your movie? Jamie: No. It's science fiction, not a horror film! Harriet: Well, then can I watch? Jamie: Sure. Go home and wait for it to be on television. Don't call us. We'll call you. Ted: Of course you can watch, Harriet, but you have to be quiet. Harriet: I don't think that's possible.

    • Jamie: See, we have to do a project for school, in our social studies class, about people in other lands, and how we should be friends, even if they're different. Ted: Well, I think that's a very worthwhile thing to teach kids. Joan: Yes. Now, if the kids could just teach it to the grown-ups...
