  • Rating applies to the whole seventh season, but also to this episode. I am not gonna shed a tear when the current writers leave the show.

  • Quotes (15)

    • Lex: Who am I to turn my back on my fellow man? Especially after you turned your back on me? I'm sorry, Clark. But you are the Traveler. You hold the future of the entire planet in your hands. I'm here to take it back. Clark: Lex... Lex: You'll never threaten the world again... Kal-El.

    • Brainiac: This is a simple matter of self-preservation. When I couldn't kill you, I knew I had to control you. Clark: I'm in control now. And you will release Chloe! You'll release Lana! Brainiac: The only way to save them would be to kill me now, in cold blood. Which goes against everything you stand for. You could never deliberately take another man's life. Clark: You're not a man. You're a machine.

    • Lana: (to Clark) I need you... but the world needs you more.

    • Chloe: (pulls kryptonite out on Kara) Why isn't it working? Kara: Check the expiration date?

    • Kara: You know, for the last surviving member of a secret society, you're not a very good liar.

    Notes (7)

    • Music: Perfect (Simple Plan), Ashamed (Orgy), Perfect (Michelle Featherstone), Enough is Enough (Homy)

    • These are Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk, and Laura Vandervoort's last appearances as series regulars.

    • In the commercials advertising the latter part of this season, there was a very heavily emphasized clip featuring Lex, in full arctic-gear, approaching and discovering the Fortress of Solitude from the outside. That scene was absent from this episode, the only episode it could have occurred in. Presumably it was cut for time's sake.

    • John Glover is credited but doesn't appear.

    • Injoke: Lex's line "See, you live among us as a mild-mannered farmboy; but secretly you're a strange visitor from another planet, plotting our demise." references the opening lines of the animated Fleischer serials.

    Trivia (6)

    • When Brainiac explodes, Clark is not standing in the same spot/position as he was before Brainiac blows up.

    • When Clark asks Chloe to play the black box audio again, and when he asks Chloe to play the remaining audio, the same footage of Chloe clicking the mouse and looking at the monitor is used both times.

    • Why did Clark let Chloe face Kara alone? Her argument that the Kryptonite would affect Clark was valid, but surely he could've been nearby watching the whole thing from a safe distance with his X-ray vision. Just because Chloe had kryptonite didn't guarantee her safety even without the knowledge that Kara was Brainiac in disguise.

    • On Edward Teague's Argentinian passport, the day of birth reads: 16th Junio (June). The "th" expression doesn't exist in Spanish; the proper way of writing it would be "16 de Junio."

    • Trivia: At no point in season 7 did Clark use his super-breath ability. This makes this the first season that he did not use all of his powers at some point throughout it.

    • Jimmy: So I guess wax on, wax off, we're even now, right?
Referencing the 1984 movie The Karate Kid starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morito. Morito's character trains his student by having him apply and take off wax from his vintage car.

    • Jimmy: We can have Breakfast at Tiffany's in the morning. Referencing the 1961 movie starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, based on the novel by Truman Capote. Tiffany's is known for its fine engagement rings.
