    • Simone: Clark Kent is the most extraordinary... kisser.

    • Chloe: I don't get it... I mean if it was Red K you wouldn't be doing chores and if it was Silver K you would be afraid that pitchfork over there was going to turn you into a shish kebab... what happened to you, Clark? Clark: I fell in love. Chloe: I don't think you fell, I think you were pushed... off a cliff.

    • Chloe: You haven't talked to (Lana), have you? Clark: No. Chloe: What are you waiting for? I mean, she knows you were hypnotized. And besides, every single one of us has gone through some sort of an identity crisis at one point or another. It's like a rite of passage in Smallville.

    • Clark: My power to hurt Lana is stronger than all my powers put together.

    • Clark: My feelings for you have changed.
Lana: Clark I want you to look me in the eye and tell me that you don't love me.
      Clark: I don't love you.

Clark defends himself by stating that he fell in love with her a few months ago in Metropolis. Lois then tells Simone that she is friend's with Clark's girlfriend and doesn't wish to see her hurt. Trivia (12)

    • At the beginning of the episode the men in hazmat suits are drawing blood from the dead bodies. They draw the blood from the arm and you can see the blood going into the vials. This is not the method for collecting blood samples from a corpse and would not provide an adequate sample to be tested. This is because the heart is no longer pumping blood through the circulatory system and there would not be enough blood in the arm to draw that amount of blood from a single vein. For this reason blood samples are not taken from a corpse until the time of an autopsy, and the samples are taken directly from the heart.

    • Why would Lana drive to Smallville, go back to Metropolis, and then immediately turn around to drive back to Smallville when Clark calls? That's nine hours of driving in one day...she doesn't even think to ask if he could discuss things over the phone or wait until the next day.

    • At the end Clark remembers everything that happened, and says nothing happened between him and Simone. What?? After Lana went back to Aunt Nell (in Metropolis, three hours away), Simone and Clark had plenty of time to continue at where they were interrupted. She's taking a shower in the morning when Chloe arrived, and Clark is outside moving tanks. Given her personality and mind-control powers, it makes no sense that after Lana left Simone just decided to roll over, go to sleep, and take a shower a few hours later while telling Clark to go move heavy weights.

    • When Simone talks to Chloe she's purportedly naked under the towel, as people getting out of the shower typically are. However, you can see a whtie shirt/bra line across her back just above the towel. You don't get out of the shower, towel down, put on underwear, then wrap a wet towel around you. The actress is wearing an undergarment for protection against "over-exposure."

    • Simone and Clark clearly start getting a bit intimate with the champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. Then Simone has Clark call Lana and ask her to come to Smallville (from Metropolis) to tell her they're breaking up. So...three hours later Lana arrives, because it's a three-hour drive from Metropolis to Smallville. But they're just starting to undress seconds before she arrived. What were they doing for the other two hours, fifty-eight minutes?

    Allusions (3)

    • Chloe: I was afraid I'd be walking in on some sort-of Dangerous Liaison. This is probably a reference to Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' French novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, which was written in 1782. In the novel, the aristocratic characters use casual sex as a weapon to hurt others and ruin relationships.

    • Lois: It was Last Tango at the Talon. Referencing the 1972 movie Ultimo tango a Parigi (Last Tango in Paris in America), starring Marlon Brando (Superman the Movie in-joke?) and Maria Schneider as two illicit lovers.

    • Superman Clark bends the baseball bat into a distinctive "S" shape similar to the one he'll wear on his chest as Superman.
