  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (16)

    • Stan: Why do dogs have cold noses? Mr. Mackey: Uuuhh.. well I'm not sure.

    • Stan: (about Kyle telling his parents) Dude, you shouldn't have told them that; now they're gonna go find him and cut off his penis! Cartman: Fireman. Kyle: Ah, who the hell cares? He's not even my responsibility! (Kenny falls in an empty grave; the gravestone breaks in half and falls on him, killing him as well.) Stan: Oh, my god! They killed Kenny! Kyle: You bastards.

    • Father Maxi: Yay let us ponder the Lord's mercy. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

    • Kyle: (to Chef) Hey, are you come to Ike's bris this weekend? Chef: Oh, hell no! I can't bear to see that! Stan: What do you mean? Chef: Don't you boys know what a bris is?? They're going to circumcise him! Cartman: Eh, what's that? Chef: (to himself) Oh, boy. Here we go again… (to the boys) Children, uh… What's the one thing that's more sacred to a man than anything else in the world? Stan: Uh, bicycles? Cartman: Ham? Kyle: No, not ham, you fat ****! Cartman: (to Kyle) Screw you! (to Chef) It's ham, isn't it? Chef: No no no, children. I'm talking about the most important part of a man's body. Kyle: Uh, your heart? Stan: Your eyes! (Chef puts his hand on his head.) Kenny: (muffled) I know! Your penis! Chef: That's right! Cartman: Hey! My mom says you're not supposed to call it a penis, Kenny! You're supposed to call it a fireman! Chef: A fireman?? Cartman: That's the proper way to say it, or else you'll get a spanking! Chef: (gets into car) Damn it, children! Why do I always have to be the one to explain all of this stuff to you? Ask your parents for once! Kyle: Hey, wait! (Chef drives off.) Stan: (to Kenny) Dude, something tells me this "bris" thing isn't good!

    • Chef: Hello there, children! Boys: Hey, Chef! Kyle: How's it going? Chef: Bad… Kyle: Why bad? Chef: Children, I heard about what happened at school today! Now none of you tooked that nasty marijuana, did you? Stan: No, dude! We never even saw it! Chef: Okay, because I just want to tell you that drugs are bad. Stan: We know, we know, that's what everybody says! Chef: Right. But do you know WHY they're bad? Kyle: Because they're an addictive solution to a greater problem, causing disease of both body and mind, the consequences far outweighing their supposed benefits. Chef: And do you have ANY idea what that means? Kyle: No. Cartman: I know! Drugs are bad, because if you do drugs, you're a hippie; and hippies suck!

    Notes (6)

    • This is the first of many episodes where Trey Parker has the sole writing credit.

    • The band 'Alien Project' made a song entitled "Who has the Marijauna" on their "Don't Worry, Be Groovy" album that includes many samples of Mr. Mackey from this episode.

    • In syndication, Cartman's phrase "the fireman spitting when you rub its helmet" (in reference to why a man's penis shouldn't be cut off) was cut. It is not cut from the reruns on Comedy Central.

    • When Mr. Mackey goes to the bar and gets drunk, he stumbles home singing Pat Benatar's "Love Is a Battlefield." The guys used the same song later in the Season 7 episode Red Man's Greed, where the town sang the song to rally against the Native Americans.

    • Notice the alphabet thing above the chalkboard it says DiOsMiOhAnMaTaDoHaKeNnYbAsTaRdOs - which spelled out is "Dios Mio Mataron a Kenny, bastardo," Spanish for "Oh my God they killed Kenny, you bastard."

    Trivia (4)

    • After the kids were searched for marijuana, how could the teachers weren't serach for the same thing. It was very clear that Mr. Garrison took it, since he was later seen stoned.

    • The pronunciation of "bris" means that Kyle's family are Ashkenazi Jews

    • How could Kyle not have known about Ike being adopted? He's only 2 years old and Kyle should have been at least 6 when he was adopted. Also, Kyle watches Terrence and Phillip, and he probably knows they're Canadian, and he didn't realise Ike resembled them?

    • When Mr. Mackey came back to school at the end, the first view of the kids at their desks shows Kenny there, but in the next view of them he is not.

    Allusions (5)

    • Teletubbies
: When Mr. Garrison is stoned, the characters he is watching on TV resemble the Teletubbies, characters from a popular children's program.

    • The 1983 tv show "The A-Team" is referenced. In the episode, the A-Team abduct Mr. Mackey in their van to take him to drug rehab with the A-Team theme music in the background.

    • Star Wars: Dr. Schwartz: Kyle, a circumcision is a very common thing for Ike to have. His father had it, his grandfather had it, and... his brother... had it. The above line is a takeoff of Luke Skywalker's dialogue when he talks to Leia about the lineage of the Force in the 1983 film, Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.

    • The Simpsons: Driver 1: That's what you and Homer Simpson have in common, D'ope! Mr. Mackey was blamed for accidentally giving out marijuana (a form of dope) in school and got fired. The man in the car makes light of this using Homer Simpsons infamous catchphrase, D'oh, from The Simpsons.

    • Circumcision/Jewish Tradition: "Bris Milah" is the Jewish circumcision tradition, it literally means Covenant of Circumcision.
