    • Giants co-owner John Mara: (accepting the Vince Lombardi trophy after the Giants win in Super Bowl XLII) The greatest victory in the history of this franchise without a question, and I just want to say to all you Giants fans who have been supporting us for more than 30 years at Giants Stadium, for all those years at Yankee Stadium, and some of you even back to the Polo Grounds: This is for you!

    • Kevin Garnett: (after Boston Celtics win in Game 6 to capture the 2008 NBA Finals) Anything's POSSIBLLLLEEEE!!!

    • Frank Vogel: Derrick Rose played out of this world today. The kid's got Allen Iverson's speed, Jason Kidd's vision, Chauncey Billups' shooting and Michael Jordan's athleticism; how do you guard that?

    Trivia (357)

    • Despite a 21-10 Week 3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers' quarterback David Whitehurst would complete 24 of his 34 passes. At that point, 24 completions would set a franchise record for most completions in a game by one quarterback.

    • In the four year history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they have never beaten the Green Bay Packers. But with some help from rookie Jerry Eckwood, and Ricky Bell, the Bucs would change that and defeat the Pack, 21-10 in Week 3, to stay perfect at 3-0. Jerry Eckwood would rush for 99 yards on 23 attempts, and Ricky Bell would rush for 97 yards on 15 attempts. The Bucs would total up 235 yards rushing overall.

    • Two fourth-quarter touchdowns from the 49ers would not be enough, as San Francisco would lose to the Los Angeles Rams, 27-24. After the Rams victory, it marked the sixth straight win over the 49ers.

    • The St. Louis Cardinals opened up an early 9-0 lead, and a 15-7 halftime lead. Quarterback Jim Hart, became the tenth NFL quarterback to complete 2,000 passes in the effort as well. Unfortunately, the Steelers would come back and kicker, Matt Bahr would kick a 20-yard field goal with :13 seconds to go and the Pittsburgh Steelers would remain unbeaten at 3-0, to win 24-21.

    • The Houston Oilers upped their record to 2-1 with a 20-6 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Chiefs' quarterback, Steve Fuller, threw four interceptions, and was sacked six times to add to the pain.

    • In a 31-20 win over the Detroit Lions, the New York Jets tied a franchise record with three rushing touchdowns in the game. The New York Jets overcame a very early 7-0 deficit to score 17 straight points and score the last 14.

    • Despite a 20-17 loss to the Denver Broncos in overtime, Atlanta Falcons quarterback, Steve Bartkowski completed 20 of 29 passes for a franchise record 326 yard performance.

    • Chicago Bears' runningback, Walter Payton rushed for 134 yards on 22 carries, and would become the Chicago Bears' all-time leading rusher, surpassing Rick Caseres' career total of 5,657 yards. Unfortunately, his performance would not be enough to surpass the Cowboys, in a 24-20 loss.
