  • A fun action-oriented romp, albeit one with some gaping plot holes. Switch the brain into neutral and enjoy the sparky O'Brien/Bashir interaction, which is always a treat

    • Quark: I thought we'd have a toast to the memory of Chief O'Brien and Dr Bashir. Jadzia: That's very thoughtful of you, Quark. Quark: (seeing Kira's surprised) I can be thoughtful! (they all lift their glasses) To our dear, beloved comrades, we may have had our differences, but I'll say this for them - it's the highest tribute I can think of - they were good customers. They always paid their bar bills on time. Kira: That's it?! Quark: I'm not done yet. At times like this, I'm reminded of the 57th Rule of Acquisition: "Good customers are as rare as latinum. Treasure them."

    • Jadzia: You know, I just remembered, I still have Julian's medical school diaries. Kira: He let you read them?! Jadzia: He felt it would help me understand him better. Kira: How? By reading about all the women he went out with? Jadzia: That's not what they were about. When he gave them to me, he told me that they were about his innermost thoughts, his struggle to graduate top of his class, his dream of a career in Starfleet, his constant fear of failure. Kira: Really? And did you? Understand him better? Jadzia: (sadly) I never got around to reading them.

    • O'Brien: (about Bashir) It was Hell... you can see for yourself, the man never stops talking.

    Notes (2)

    • Features recycled Turkana IV matte painting from the Next Generation episode "Legacy", this time being used as the exterior shot for T'Lani III.

    • Cirroc Lofton (Jake Sisko) does not appear in this episode.

    Trivia (4)

    • Rule Of Acquisition #57 Good customers are as rare as latinum. Treasure them.

    • The Ganges becomes the second runabout to be destroyed on the show.

    • Goof: When the Ganges is attacked by the T'Lani cruiser, the phaser beam cuts through the runabout's cockpit section, but a few seconds later when the ship explodes, there is no damage to this area.

    • Goof: Just after being rescued and brought aboard the runabout, Bashir is seen scanning O'Brien with a scanner from a medical tricorder (the instumentent he holds very close to the chief's neck). He then picks up a medical tricorder, which still has the scanner attached. There's no reason to have two scanners and only one tricorder.
