  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (4)

    • Jake (to Weyoun): The entire future of the galaxy may depend on us tracking down Willie Mays... and stopping him.

    • Quark: (handing Nog a list of auction items) Here, find something you like and make a bid with all that latinum you've got stashed under your bed. Nog: (looking around nervously) Shhhh! Quark: Oh Nog, you don't really keep it under your bed?!

    • Sisko: Two days ago, this station felt like a tomb. I'd never seen so many of my crew depressed at the same time. But for some reason, it now seems as though a new spirit has swept through the station. As if someone had opened a door and let a gust of fresh air blow through a musty old house. Why is this happening frankly is... a mystery to me. After all, nothing has really changed. The Dominion is still a threat, the Cardassians are still threatening to retake the station, and I can still see the clouds of war gathering on the horizon. So why do I sense this newfound sense of optimism in the air? But maybe I'm overthinking this. Maybe the real explanation is as simple as something my father taught me a long time ago: Even in the darkest moments, you can always find something that'll make you smile.

    • Nog: It's not my fault that your species decided to abandon currency-based economics in favor of some philosophy of self-enhancement.
Jake: Hey, watch it! There's nothing wrong with our philosophy. 'We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity.'
Nog: What does that mean exactly?
Jake: It means... it means we don't need money!

    Notes (3)

    • This is the first episode of Star Trek to be directed by Michael Dorn.

    • Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax) does not appear in this episode.

    • At the end of the auction, we see Morn leaving with a rather large painting, representing a matador. The same painting plays a larger role in the season six episode "Who Mourns For Morn?"

    Trivia (3)

    • Kai Winn mentions that she has consulted with an orb and been told nothing.  During the Season 7 episode "Strange Bedfellows," she again fails to interface with an orb and admits that she feels nothing when the wormhole opens.

    • The Klingon opera Nog listens to is the same one which Worf was singing along to during "Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places".

    • Goof: When Jake and Nog agree to complete Chief O'Brien's work for him, Nog says "I'll scan and you calibrate", however, he hands Jake the tricorder by mistake.

    Allusions (3)

    • Willie Mays
Willie Mays is an American Hall of Fame baseball player, who played for the New York Giants.

    • Jake: 'We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity.'
Jake quotes Captain Picard from Star Trek: First Contact.

    • Jake: We're going to beard the lion in its den.
      Nog: Lions, Gigers, bears.
      Jake: Oh my.
This is a play on one of Dorothy's infamous quotes from The Wizard Of Oz: "Lions and tigers and bears. Oh my."
