    • (hiding inside an icy asteroid) Odo: Well, let's just hope the Jem'Hadar give up their search before we freeze to death. Weyoun: My faith will keep me warm. Odo: Hm, perhaps, but in another hour, you may want to trade in that faith for a thermal blanket.

    • Weyoun: The Vorta used to be quite different from what we are today. We were forest dwellers. Small, timid ape-like creatures living in hollowed out trees, eating nuts and berries, and also lived in fear of many predators that would hunt us for food. One day, a wounded Changeling came stumbling through the forest fleeing from a mob of angry solids. Odo: Why were the solids chasing the shapeshifter? Weyoun: What does it matter? The solids have also feared and mistrusted shapeshifters. You know that. Well, a family of Vorta hid the Changeling from his pursuers, and in exchange for saving his life, the Changeling promised the Vorta that one day, we would be transformed into powerful beings - that we would become an important part of a great new empire that would stretch across the galaxy. Odo: And the Changeling kept his word. Weyoun: Imagine, Odo, my people were once little more than apes, and look at us now. Look what you've done for us.

    • Martok: Where are my cases of bloodwine?! (throws down an empty case in frustration) Worf: I do not know, General, but I promise you, I will find out.

    • (talking to Odo) Kira: I know, to Starfleet the Prophets are nothing more than wormhole aliens. To me, they're gods. I can't prove it, but then again, I don't need to. My faith in them is enough. Just like Weyoun's faith in you was enough for him.

    • Nog: You see, there are millions upon millions of worlds in the universe. Each filled with too much of one thing and not enough of another. The Great Continuum flows through them all like a mighty river, from "have" to "want" and back again. And if we navigate the Continuum with skill and grace, our ship will be filled with everything our hearts desire. O'Brien: Right now, I'll settle for a stabilizer and the Captain's desk. Nog: The River will provide. O'Brien: If it doesn't sink us, first.

    Notes (6)

    • Nog mentions that Chief of Operations Lorenzo wants Captain Sisko's desk so that he can take his picture behind it, as he has with the desk of the Captains Picard and de Soto. Captain de Soto commands the U.S.S. Hood, an Excelsior-class starship. This was the vessel where Cmdr. Riker served before joining the Enterprise.

    • A padd with "047" on the back appears in Worf's hands as Martok demands to know where his blood wine has gone. Writer Joe Menosky began including references to the number 47 in almost every episode of Star Trek since season four of The Next Generation. It is an in-joke, referring to The 47 Society at Pomona College in California, a college which Menosky attended.

    • Reveals that Ferengi have more than one set of ears over their life, much like human teeth.

    • Ferengi Rules Of Acquisition #168: "Whisper your way to success."

    • Reveals the Founders are dying from a disease spread through the Great Link.

    Trivia (1)

    • While hiding from the Jem'Hadar in a shuttle with the life support systems disabled, Odo mentions more than once the possibility of both him and Weyoun-6 being frozen to death. However it has been established that Odo arrived in the Alpha Quadrant by drifting through space which means that he can survive near absolute zero temperatures, unless "the 100" changelings were sent from the Gamma Quadrant in life-sustaining vessels. Nevertheless, eight episodes later ("Chimera"), the changeling Laas proves it since he was first encountered in outer-space while assuming the form of a space-faring creature.

    Allusions (3)

    • Scotty
O'Brien hastily estimates that it would take him eight hours to get the stabilizer online. Sisko replies that he wants it in two hours, which O'Brien readily accepts. In the movies and in the Next Generation episode "Relics", Scotty admits that he multiplies his estimates by four in order to garner the reputation as a "miracle worker".

    • Star Wars
The Ferengi believe in the Great Material Continuum that holds the universe together, much like the Force in the Star Wars series of films.

    • M*A*S*H
Nog's trading deals may be alludsions to episodes of M*A*S*H, wherein characters would trade their supplies in order to get needed supplies. Most notable is the time Trapper and Hawkeye traded Colonel Blake's solid oak desk to the black market for much needed medical supplies. Other episodes involved making a long line of deals to achieve the desired effect.
