The first good episode of season 7.

Like "Time's Arrow", this two-parter is largely fluff. There's nothing deep here, just a convoluted adventure, and that's perfectly fine. Certainly, it tops "Birthright" and "Descent". It also manages to avoid "excessive set-up disease" - the setup's here, but it is plenty exciting. It's the kind of story we didn't see often on the show, with the Enterprise playing an at-most secondary role in the action. The combination of Picard and Riker is a potent one - particularly playing different roles. Baran provides an intriguing villain, very different from most of the other enemies we saw from time to time.

The “Enterprise” crew investigates Picard’s disappearance. They are led to believe their Captain is dead. While preparing for the memorial service of the late Captain, Riker refuse to accept Picard’s Death and feels it should be justified, So Riker asks Admiral Chekote for permission to investigate Picard’s Death. Riker assembles an away team to down to another planet where Picard was last seen. The away team is attacked by some renegade aliens. They take Riker as prisoner. Now Data is in command of “The Enterprise” and goes looking for Riker. I rate this one a 9.8moreless

I saw this episode last night. It is really a good one. A two-part episode this involved Picard going missing, and Riker helping out the criminals.

I saw this episode last night. It is really a good one. A two-part episode this involved Picard assumed to be dead, and both him and Riker helping out the criminals.

The best part is when the pieces to the weapon are assembled and Picard figures out how to avoid it working on him.

At the end, Riker says that he can't take orders from Picard because he is supposedly dead, so Picard says that they should take Riker to the brig because he "broke" many federation laws. Data then begins to take him away and it ends with him trying to explain that it only was a joke.moreless
