  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (34)

    • (McKay's sister refuses to sign the confidentiality agreement to get working on the project.) Carter: You and I both know this would go a lot faster if your sister were onboard! McKay: Well, what do you want me to do? She's not gonna listen to me! Carter: You're her brother! McKay: (Laughs) Yeah, exactly!

    • McKay: ZPM is at fifty percent. Zelenka: It's still not enough, Rodney! Jeannie: We have to max it out! McKay: Thirty percent. Jeannie: The bridge is collapsing. We've done it! Zelenka: Okay, we can shut it down now! McKay: Not yet. Zelenka: What?! McKay: According to these readings, if we shut it down now, he won't make it! Jeannie: Give it a few more seconds! Zelenka: ZPM is at five percent. McKay: Almost there... (short pause) Cut power now! Zelenka: How much power did we drain from the (looks at screen) Z... P... M...? (The screen displays "ZPM MODULE DEPLETED") McKay: All of it.

    • Jeannie: (about her calculations) Grant Peel has better things to do than look over my nonsensical scribblings. Kaleb: They didn't look nonsensical to me. Okay, fine, they did, but I'm an English major. What the hell do I know?

    • Jeannie: Why are you here? McKay: What, I can't just stop by and say hi to my little sister? Jeannie: Well, we haven't spoken in four years and you've never done anything like this, so no, you can't.

    • McKay: Do you have any idea what you've written? Jeannie: A math proof. Some, some theoretical physics. I'm willing to wager it has no practical application at all. McKay: I'll take that action.

    Trivia (11)

    • The two men that accompany Carter to Jeannie Miller's house are Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers as Jeannie's house is in Canada.

    • Sheppard: (referring the alternate McKay) We put him here in the guest quarters until we can find something more permanent. McKay: Something more permanent? Well, we're not keeping him! Sheppard: He can't go back. This is similar to an incident that happened at Stargate Command in the Stargate SG-1 episode "Point of View." The alternate Carter was experiencing what they call 'Entropic cascade failure'. It happens when someone from another reality shares the same reality as their counterpart. Later, it will involve the death of the alternate person. The alternate McKay would have not been able to survive in their universe since the original McKay of the universe is still alive.

    • In this episode Rod speaks Czech to Zelenka: "Měj se." which translates to "Take care."

    • The McKay from the parallel universe says that their plan to get to 'our' universe involved using an ancient personal forcefield for protection when transporting over the bridge to the other universe. After hearing this 'our' McKay mentions that he depleted theirs, referring to the incidents in the first season episode "Hide and Seek", where McKay, after getting ancient gene therapy, manages to turn on the personal forcefield, but is then unable to turn it off at will. He did manage to turn it off eventually, only to later willfully turn it on again to remove an energy-based lifeform through the Stargate.

    • Carter: About a year ago, your brother came across an abandoned alien experiment called project "Arcturus". Carter is relating events from the second season episode "Trinity".

    Allusions (4)

    • Jeanie: Holy cow! That can't be good for you. Sheppard: Nothing to worry about. I've done it dozens of times. John Sheppard. McKay: Yeah. She's married, and she's my sister. Sheppard: I'm just saying hi. McKay: Yeah. No, I know exactly what you're doing. I've seen that look before ... Kirk. The name Kirk is in reference to Captain James T. Kirk from the original Star Trek series and eight movies with Kirk being notorious for his way with women.

    • Terminator: When "Rod" appears suddenly he is in the same pose as Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator when he suddenly appears from the future, and is even wearing a leather jacket like in the movie, too.

    • McKay: You'll just need to click your heels together, huh? This is a reference to The Wizard of Oz, where the main character, Dorothy, clicks her heels together in order to get back home in Kansas.

    • Title: This is a take-off on the title of Robert Altman's 1971 movie McCabe & Mrs. Miller. The title characters, played by Warren Beatty and Julie Christie, are mismatched and somewhat reluctant partners in running a brothel in a Pacific Northwest frontier town.
