  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (8)

    • McKay: Huh...If this works, we should be able to track every Aurora Class Replicator ship in the galaxy in real time. (screen shows half a dozen ships) McKay: (relieved) That's not so bad. I guess the Wraith have really taken a toll. (more ships appear on the screen) McKay: On.. the other hand they might have built even more (a lot more ships appear) McKay: ... a lot more ... (sounds of more ships appearing) McKay: Oh, crap!

    • Sheppard: You doing OK? Weir: Sure, all things considered. Not bad for a dead woman.

    • Sheppard: All right do we know what the problem is? McKay: Yeah, the gate's not working. Sheppard: I think we figured that much last week when you broke it. McKay: I did not break the gate. Sheppard: It just happened to stop working about the same time you were screwing around with it. McKay: I wasn't screwing around with it. I was running a stream lining program to boost its operating efficiency. Sheppard: Yeah, well good job. McKay: It had nothing to do with why the gate malfunctioned.

    • (Upon seeing a duplicate of himself) Sheppard: Great, the last time I came face-to-face with myself I ended up kicking my own ass.

    • Replicator Keller: There's no point in calling you anything else. You're exactly like her in every way. Duplicate Weir: Except that I'm not her. Replicator Keller: No. The real Elizabeth Weir was killed several months ago.

    Notes (6)

    • The outdoor scenes in the forest were filmed near Fort Langley, British Columbia.

    • The line from McKay about the old uniforms bunching up under the arms was added as an in-joke. David Hewlett and some other cast members voiced issues with the old uniforms which is why the new ones were introduced.

    • Sean Millington (Marine) previously played Ronac (Teal'c's Father) in the Stargate SG-1 episode "Crossroads" and a Thug in the episode "Affinity."

    • To distinguish between the real team and the duplicates, the real team wears the updated Atlantis uniforms and the duplicates wear the old style.

    • Amanda Tapping does not appear in this episode.

    Trivia (7)

    • The vision that Sam Carter had in "The Seer" of Atlantis being destroyed is fulfilled in this episode. However, it's the fake "Atlantis", not the real one.

    • Goof: Near the end, Sheppard tells the control room to shut down the stargate after he walked through. You can't shut down the gate on the receiving end; it has to be shut down from the side that activated the gate.

    • The duplicate Sheppard says they can try to contact Atlantis by going to New Athos but they actually make contact with Major Jordon on an outpost on the planet M34-227.

    • Sheppard: It's not like this hasn't happened before. The other Elizabeth got infected by those little nanite things and we figured out how to stop 'em, somehow... At the extreme end of the Season 3 episode "Progeny", Dr. Elizabeth Weir was infected by nanites when attacked by the Replicator Niam. In the following episode, "The Real World", Weir fights off the infection while the nanites manipulate her consciousness.

    • Sheppard: Great. The last time I came face-to-face with myself I ended up kicking my own ass. This is a reference to the Stargate Atlantis season four episode "Doppelganger" in which Colonel Sheppard has to fight an alien entity assuming his form.

    Allusions (2)

    • Terminator 2: Judgement Day: When Sheppard shoots Lorne in the leg, it heals in much the same as the T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Also the T-1000 is played by Robert Patrick portrayed Colonel Marshall Sumner in the first 2 episodes of Stargate Atlantis.

    • Title: This title and the conclusion episode's title are from Hamlet's famous "To be or not to be" soliloquy from Shakespeare's Hamlet, Act 3 Scene 1. "This Mortal Coil" refers to the physical body, to be shed at death.
