  • Episode Description
  • Mitchell eagerly awaits the next off-world mission, which will be his 200th trip through the Stargate. However, Martin Lloyd returns and seeks help with his movie script. The Pentagon orders the SG-1 team to assist because the decision makers believe a film about intergalactic wormhole travel will provide a good cover story for the Stargate program.

    • (O'Neill is invisible) Daniel: ...and so, by translating this tablet, we should be able to determine the most important thing in the universe. (a loud snoring is heard) Everyone just wanna... poke around, see if you can find him...?

    • Mitchell: Fix (the Gate). Daniel: Quickly. Sam: I'm on it. Teal'c: Indeed.

    • Sam: Do you really think that the best way to introduce the heroes of the story is to show them causing a massive catastrophe? Mitchell: That’s... realistic.

    • Daniel: Sam, who’re you talking to? Sam: Oh, Colonel O’Neill. I was just explaining to him how we’re going to make him visible again. Daniel: No, you’re not. Jack’s in Hammond’s office. Sam: I can’t believe he did that to me again!

    • Daniel: Y’know, getting that cloaking generator off the mothership, that’s gonna be the least of our problems. Now, getting Jack to help, that’s gonna be the hard part. Sam: Oh, don’t tell me… Daniel: Oh, yes. He likes being invisible.

    Notes (28)

    • Injoke: Mitchell: "Now, how can something work perfectly fine for ten years, then all of a sudden, it doesn't work anymore?" This comment mirrors the disbelief of the show runners that Stargate SG-1 was canceled as it was "no longer working" for the audience, possibly due to the lack of Jack O'Neill. The fact it was Ben Browder saying the line is particularly ironic, since a lot of fans claimed Stargate SG-1 actually ended when Jack left and Cameron took over the unit.

    • Yolanda Reese, the actress who plays the "Carter" character on Wormhole X-treme says during her interview, when talking about what she'll do now, "maybe have a baby," referencing Amanda Tapping's recent pregnancy.

    • This episode was nominated for a Hugo Award for Dramatic Presentation: Short Form.

    • Two of Vala's "proposals" for story ideas use sets from Stargate Atlantis: The Wizard of Oz version uses Atlantis interior sets, and the Farscape version use a Wraith Hive-ship set.

    • Syndication Premiere: October 27, 2007

    Trivia (4)

    • Trivia: Daniel is wearing new glasses. They're no longer round, but more rectangular.

    • While Mitchell is defending his zombie movie idea, you can see Marty's phone on his binder, then it starts to ring, the camera cuts to Marty and he takes his phone out of his pocket. It looks like the same phone and it is unlikely he would have two.

    • During the "unaired episode" where O'Neill is invisible, there are references to O'Neill's rank as Colonel as well as General Hammond. However, Teal'c never had hair during Hammond's command.

    • Daniel states that Wormhole X-Treme! lasted three episodes. However, in Season 8's "Citizen Joe", Joe Spencer says it was cancelled after one episode.

    Allusions (13)

    • Mitchell: Reverse the polarity. Mitchell as the Captain gave orders to "reverse the polarity". "Reverse the polarity (of the neutron flow)" is a phrase typically associated with the Third Doctor from Doctor Who, Jon Pertwee, as his way of dealing with technobabble that he was required to speak in that show. Although he only said the full phrase once during his initial tenure. Prior to the return of Doctor Who on television in 2005, Ben Browder was among those asked for his views on that show's return.

    • Marty: Jeopardy plus ticking clock is the E=MC2 of the entertainment business! This alludes to the television show 24, which occurs in real time and has a ticking clock.

    • Daniel: You know, if she doesn't show, people are going to think that you and I are... Alluding to the wealth of Jack/Daniel pairing fans/fics/ideas in fandom.

    • Mitchell: Engine Room, warp speed! This sequence is an allusion to the original Star Trek series. Mitchell is playing Captain James T. Kirk, and on his uniform, similar to the one from the original Star Trek, there's a logo that resembles the Starfleet logo.

    • Martin: Power getting into the flux capacitator. The flux capacitator was the mechanism which allowed the Delorean in the Back to the Future movies to achieve time travel.
