  • Episode Description
  • Nine years in the future, the Goa'uld have been defeated thanks to an alliance with an advanced alien race. Transportation technology and off-world Stargate travel is now commonplace. However, Carter finds out that most of the human race has secretly been rendered sterile by Earth's new allies. She and the other SG-1 team members must rig the Stargate for time travel (first done in the episode "1969") and send a message back to their counterparts in 2001 to prevent contact with the alien race.moreless

    • Guard: I'm sorry, sir, but weapons are not allowed. Teal'c: We carry these for ceremonial purposes only. Guard: I'm sorry, but you'll have to let me have it! Teal'c: Very well. (shoots the guard)

    • Sam: Sergeant, please, this is really important. Do you know where our real GDO's went? Walter: I'm not a sergeant anymore and you're not colonels. And you're not supposed to have that remote either. Daniel: Oh, that's good because actually we don't want that one. We want the real one.

    • Sam: It turns out we made a mistake. A big one. Jack: Which one? We made a few. Sam: Our alliance with the Aschen. Jack: Oh that. Not working out is it? Gosh I wish I’d seen that coming. Oh wait! I did see that coming.

    • Daniel: This is ridiculous. Sam: We couldn’t break away until there were more people around. Once we’re in the control room... Daniel: Not her personal favorite SG team? Sam: Just don’t ask for the photo.

    • Guide: We've arrived at Level 28. Can anyone guess at what special room is on this floor? Kid: The Gate room! Guide: That's very, very close. Anyone else? Daniel: Um, he's right. It's the Gate room. Guide: Well, what I'm sure many of you don't know is that officially, it was known as the "Embarkation" room, because that's where the SG teams "embarked" from.

    Notes (2)

    • Syndication airdate: February 11, 2002.

    • More in-jokes: the Aschen are planning to ignite Jupiter and transform it into a star. This is a deliberate homage by Brad Wright to the book and movie 2010 (sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey), which featured the same plan.

    Trivia (10)

    • For all their technological and medical advancements, the one thing the Aschen haven't mastered is curing bad eyesight, as Daniel Jackson still has to wear glasses.

    • It seems that the hand gesture of writing with an invisible pen is still used in 2010 to ask the waitress for the check even though Carter's husband didn't actually have to put his signature anywhere to pay. You can also see the waitress swipe the card with the magnetic card stripe facing up and not inside the actual magnetic card swipe reader.

    • How does Jack get there before them and know to be there right away if Carter never told him when they were doing this? Right after Carter gets back from Jack's cabin she says that they're next stop is Cheyenne Mountain to look for the GDO. So assuming they transported over there right away how did Jack have time to change and get through the tour before them? Carter and Daniel are wearing the same clothes they had on before going to the facility so its possible its the same day but they do have caps and glasses on so its possible they took some time to get those explaining Jack getting there before them.

    • When Carter and Jackson are standing at the base of the ramp leading up to the replica Stargate in the Embarkation Room you can see an Asian man behind them, who is having his picture taken, holding his right hand up in a "Vulcan salute."

    • When Carter knocks at the cabin door you can see a crew member pass by behind O'Neill's car twice.

    • Jack O'Neill: Super Bowl? World Series? Grey Cup? When Colonel O'Neill is listing various sports championships, the last one he mentions, the Grey Cup, is the Canadian Football League's championship trophy.
