  • How to make a clip show not feel like a clip show

    By BevinChu, Aug 15, 2012

  • The best of all the flashback episodes by 4 billion%, jack should get a cake for this one.

    By Data-Dox, Jun 28, 2005

  • I was expecting a funnier episode. When I heard that Dan Castellaneta was going to be on this episode I imagined an episode filled with laughter. But I still loved the episode.

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (15)

    • Jack: Bowling league, Thursday nights? Joe: You saw that? Jack: You've got game, son.

    • Joe: You're Brigadier General Jack O'Neill, head of Stargate Command at Cheyenne Mountain. You used to lead SG-1 which is now lead by Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter. You once visited a planet called Argos where the nanites in your blood caused you to age artificially. You had the entire repository of the Ancients knowledge downloaded into your brain. Twice. You have a thing for The Simpsons, fishing, Mary Steenburgen, the color peridot and you're a terrible ping-pong player. Jack: Have we met? Joe: My name's Joe Spencer. I'm a barber.

    • Jack: He's a barber. Daniel: Broke into your house? Jack: Yeah. Daniel: Second week in a row. Jack: A-hmm Daniel: Alarm. Jack: I'm thinking dog. Joe: You could try locking your front door.

    • Fred: Look, no offence, but how many times can (SG-1) save the world from Apophis? What's it up to now? Five, six times? Joe: This story's about Anubis. Apophis is dead. Fred: What's the diff? You know what I'm saying? It's getting a little repetitive.

    • Bert: They rejected "Hathor"?! Oh, but it was gold!

    Notes (5)

    • On the European DVD boxset this episode and the episode "Threads" are in the wrong order

    • Amanda Tapping (Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter) is clearly pregnant here and wearing long shirts/black tops on black chairs...etc.

    • Basically a clip show (albeit a well-financed one), using footage from previous stories. Excerpts Written by: Robert C. Cooper ("There But For the Grace of God"), "The Fifth Race", "Meridian", "Fallen (1)", "Heroes (2)", "Lost City(2)"), James Crocker ("Within the Serpent's Grasp (2)"), Peter DeLuise ("Orpheus", "Evolution (2)"), Jonathan Glassner ("Children of the Gods"), V.C. James ("A Hundred Days"), Damian Kindler ("Evolution (2)"), Joseph Mallozzi & Paul Mullie ("Wormhole X-Treme!" on Joe's tv), and Brad Wright ("Within the Serpent's Grasp (2)", "1969", "A Hundred Days", "Abyss", "Lost City (2)"). Shows excerpted and credited stars: "Children of the Gods" & "Within the Serpent's Grasp" (Alexis Cruz, Peter Williams), "1969" (Sean Campbell, Efosa Otuomagie), "Wormhole X-Treme" (Michael DeLuise, Jill Teed, Christian Bocher, Herbert Duncanson), "Evolution" (Victor Favrin, Enrico Colantoni), "A Hundred Days" (Michele Greene). Additional footage from "The Fifth Race"

    • Many references are made to the Simpsons again in this episode as they were in "Lost City, pt. 1" (Season 7). The Simpsons is confirmed as Jack's favorite show, and Joe (Dan Castellaneta - Homer and others on The Simpsons) agrees with Jack's statement from "Lost City, pt. 1" by saying "Between you and me, I totally see the analogy. Burns as Goa'uld." Joe's wife refers to her friends Margery and Lenny.

    • Originally aired in the UK on the 18th of January 2005.

    Trivia (7)

    • Trivia: Jonas Quinn (Corin Nemec) is mentioned in this episode for the first time since "Death Knell."

    • Trivia: As Joe was getting his stuff repossessed, the name on the back of the employees' jumpsuits says "Grimm Brothers Repos."

    • Trivia: In his phone call to Carter, Jack mentions he has a meeting with a Johnson from the CIA about the Kinsey incident. This is most likely Kerry Johnson, who later becomes Jack's girlfriend in "Threads".

    • Trivia: It's revealed that Wormhole X-Treme! was canceled after one episode because of low ratings.

    • When Jack first encounters Joe, he doesn't recognize him at all, but later he says that he has been seeing Joe's life for seven years. Since Joe recognized Jack, shouldn't the reverse be true?

    Allusions (3)

    • Fred: I saw the movie. Hits Paris. This is a reference to the Season 5 episode Fail Safe where Jack says almost exactly the same thing, which in turn is a reference to the movie Armageddon.

    • Joe: Between you and me, I totally see the analogy – Burns as Goa'uld.
Dan Castellaneta (Joe Spencer) stars as Homer Simpson on The Simpsons so he would get the analogy of Mr. Burns as a Goa'uld.

    • Gordie: Furlings...they sound cute. Like Ewoks.
Ewoks are the teddy-bear like creatures in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
