  • Quotes (7)

    • Hammond: The NID people want to see it. Sam: Even knowing what it's done to the Colonel? Daniel: Especially knowing what it's done to the Colonel.

    • Teal'c: It does not wish to be removed. Jack: That's too damn bad.

    • Sam: This is incredible. If Daniel's right, this artifact has been doing this since Neanderthals were still a dominant species on Earth. Jack: Ah, that takes me back.

    • Hammond: You don't have anything to apologize for, son. We've been bringing back things from all over the galaxy. One of 'em finally snapped us in the ass.

    • Teal'c: The symbiote I carry appears to protect me. Jack: Way to go, junior!

    Trivia (11)

    • At the beginning of the episode, you can see the reflection of the camera and its operator in the faces of both Carter's and O'Neill's helmets when they're talking around the orb.

    • Trivia: The planet that the orb was discovered was designated P5C-353. The primordial world that Jack sent the orb to was designated P4G-881.

    • Gen. Hammond states that two officers are needed to override the auto-destruct sequence. However, he later overrides the sequence by only typing in his code.

    • When SG1 returns through the Stargate with the orb, there is no sign of the FRED on the ramp, and the wormhole immediately disengages behind them. However, after they walk down the ramp towards Hammond and then look back, the FRED has suddenly appeared at the top of the ramp.

    • The organism would have to be fluorescent, not phosphorescent, to glow under UV light. Phosphorescent means the organism would glow in the dark after exposure to light (even visible white light).

    Allusions (1)

    • Jack: small step, one giant leap, that kind of stuff Referring to to astronaut Neil Armstrong's historic quote, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Armstrong said this when he stepped onto the moon's surface; he was the first human to do so.
