  • A great show cannot be a great show for only one or two reasons, such as story and characters. It takes all parts of the puzzel to make the picture and that includes cinematography and music!

  • Quotes (13)

    • Maybourne: I wanna go with you on this one. Jack: You must have had a few before you came over. Maybourne: Look, I know you've questioned my methods in the past, but we've always been fighting for the same thing. I just want to help make the world safe from the Goa'uld. Jack: (sarcastic) Nice delivery.

    • Maybourne: They're supposed to know when someone uses the doorway. I was expecting some sort of welcome. Jack: Mai-tai's, leis? Maybourne: Well, something. Jack: Cabana boys?

    • Jack: What are you doing here? Maybourne: I can't drop by an old friend's house for a little barbeque? Jack: Well, there's that, little treason thing.

    • Jack: (fishing) You know, if you keep standin' there yakkin' away, I'm not gonna catch anything. (Harry throws something in the water) Jack: What was that? (grenade blows up) Jack: That was just wrong on so many levels.

    • Maybourne: I do something good and it turns out into a disaster Jack: Of massive proportion!!!

    Notes (4)

    • The scene where O'Neill is fishing and Maybourne is eating the leaves was referred to as "the arugula scene" because of Maybourne continuously using that word to describe the plant he was eating. The creators of the show thought it "just had a funny sounding name."

    • The stunt in which Jack falls foul of Maybourne's trap was performed by Richard Dean Anderson himself.

    • Syndication airdate: January 4, 2004.

    • Aired first in the UK on January 8th 2003

    Allusions (2)

    • Title "Paradise Lost" is the name of a John Milton poem about the fall from the Garden Of Eden.

    • Utopia

Utopia is the title of a book written by Saint Sir Thomas More in 1517. Loosely based on Plato's Republic, it described an idealized society. The name Utopia was coined from the Greek words ou (not) and topos (place), litterally meaning "not-place" or "nowhere", ironically suggesting that, however desirable, such a place could not actually exist. It was meant to suggest two different late Greek words: outopos (no place) and eutopos (good place). More's book tells of an island state where poverty and suffering have been eliminated and there are no lawyers.
