  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (12)

    • Heimdall: As a race, the Asgard reproduce exclusively through a process of enhanced cellular mitosis. Sam: Are you serious? You have no other means of propagation? Heimdall: No. Jack: Carter? Sam: They're clones, sir. All of them. Jack: Ah, well that answers a few questions.

    • Teal'c: How are we to locate the Asgard facility? (Heimdall beams them down to the planet) Sam: Well, that was easy...

    • Jack: You know, we should really consider putting another chair back here. If you think about it, it'd be much safer, wouldn't it?

    • Sam: Please, Teal'c, don't give me that 'way of the warrior' crap. I get enough of that from Colonel O'Neill.

    • Heimdall: In fact, for nearly a thousand years, we have been physically incapable of achieving cell division through meiosis. Jack: Hmm? Sam: Sexual reproduction, Sir. Jack: Ah. A thousand years? Heimdall: It is not something we wish to discuss with other races. Jack: This I understand.

    Notes (11)

    • This episode was nominated for a VES Award for Best Character Animation in a Live Action Televised Program, Music Video, or Commercial.

    • Jack says to Teal'c "I don't think we're that much of a nuisance just yet." He said exactly the same thing in "The Enemy Within" soon after the SGC first learned of the threat posed by the Goa'uld.

    • This episode marks the first appearance of Anubis (David Palffy) on the series.

    • The voice of Heimdall is supplied by Teryl Rothery (Dr. Janet Fraiser).

    • Despite not appearing as Daniel Jackson, Michael Shanks is listed in the opening credits and provides the voice of Thor. At this point, he officially leaves the principal cast (for a year).

    Trivia (1)

    • As Teal'c and O'Neill arrive at the door of the shield generator room (just before they are knocked out), the Carter hologram appears behind them. However, to save money, the directors have her walk onto the shot and play the appearance sound effect while she is off camera (thus we don't see her appear but the effect makes it believable). On the widescreen edition, Carter can clearly be seen crouching in the corner as the two approach the door.

    Allusions (2)

    • Character name: Heimdall Heimdall, one of the Asgards featured in this episode, was the watchman of the gods in Norse mythology. In this episode, Heimdall was watching over the ancient Asgardian that was going to be used in helping with future cloning.

    • Thor: We have lost the ability to reproduce ... Thor's admission that the Asgard have lost the ability to reproduce is the popular theory behind alien abductions and experimentation, particularly the Grays.
