    • Mitchell: We’re being put on babysitting duty? Landry: Don’t underestimate the importance of this mission… Just… er.. don’t keep ‘um up past ten. And remember to read ‘um a bedtime story before tucking them in for the night.

    • (the lights start blinking) Woolsey: It's all right, I imagine it's just a little power fluctuation, nothing to worry about. (The lights go out) Woolsey: Oh, damn it.

    • (before his first trip through the gate) Woolsey: ...and the chances of my being reassembled incorrectly? Sam: Highly unlikely. Woolsey: But not impossible? Sam: That's a word I stopped using nine years ago when I joined the Stargate program.

    • (Daniel and Xiaoyi speak in Chinese) Xiaoyi: How is your Chinese? Daniel: Well, not as good as your English. Xiaoyi: What about your leader? (referring to Mitchell) Daniel: Oh, we're still teaching him. Both: (laughter) Mitchell: Go **** yourselves. (Both Xiao Yi and Daniel startled by Mitchell's sudden swearing)

    • Mitchell: Sir, I don’t mean to gripe. Landry: Permission to gripe granted.

    Trivia (7)

    • When the bugs initially breach containment the room they are in is sealed and the air evacuated from the room to remove them. When the two scientists open up the room again all the furniture seems to be exactly where it was previously.

    • The bugs that completely consume one of the soldiers also appear to have eaten his gun too.

    • When SG1 gets ready to leave on their mission that gets scrubbed, they all are handed their main weapon by the Air Force SPs. Mitchell loads a round with the weapon pointed straight at one of the SPs, something that someone with even basic weapons knowledge wouldn't do, let alone a seasoned military officer.

    • As SG-1 fires their guns to distract the bugs after reaching the cave, Mitchell's Earth symbol patch is off-center, with the point at the top facing backwards. Later, the patch is in its correct position.

    • Just after SG-1 and the delegates reach the research station, Teal'c is shown firing his weapon into the ground to distract the bugs. However, there are no leaves or dirt thrown up by the bullets. Later, the same gun is shown causing clouds of dust when fired at the ground.

    Allusions (4)

    • Teal'c: I was considering Old School. Old School (2003) is a comedy motion picture released by DreamWorks SKG, about three middle-aged men who seek to re-live their college days by starting a fraternity. The film stars Luke Wilson (Mitch), Vince Vaughn (Beanie) and Will Ferrell (Frank).

    • Mitchell: That's what they said about Tyson and Holyfield. There's always a rematch. On June 28, 1997, Mike Tyson fought Evander Holyfield in a PPV event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This fight was a rematch of a bout eight months earlier where Holyfield won by K.O. The $100-million event was dubbed "The Sound and the Fury," and became infamous when Tyson bit off a portion of Holyfield's right ear.

    • Woolsey: ...and the chances of my being reassembled incorrectly? Woolsey is played by Star Trek alumni Robert Picardo (The Doctor on Star Trek: Voyager) and several Star Trek characters have suffered from the fear of being reassembled incorrectly while using a device—like the Stargate—to be transported.

    • Mitchell: Starship Troopers. This 1997 film by Paul Verhoeven is loosely based on Robert A Heinlein's 1959 novel of the same name about an interstellar war between humans and intelligent insects.
