  • Not the best, but certainly one of the most important episodes from the first 2 seasons.

    • Jack: So you've kinda got a little Faustian deal going here, selling your soul for immortality.

    • Martouf: And what if we are not (Tok'ra)? Jack: Well, I guess we all start shooting. There's blood, death, hard feelings... it'd suck.

    • Jack: Take me to your leader.

    • Daniel: Although (serving as a host) does sound very fascinating, I'm afraid it's a little too long term for me.

    • (when Martouf takes Sam away to talk about Jolinar) Jack: Okay, son, but I want you to have her back by 11 p.m., understand?

    Trivia (6)

    • You can see the reflection of a black backdrop, a camera, and its operator in O'Neill's sunglasses when the team is first speaking with the Tok'ra in the desert.

    • The tunnels of the Tok'ra have an unexplained light source, even though they are buried deep underground.

    • Martouf and his Goa'uld seem very concerned about the death of Jolinar, but do not seem to care about the apparent death of Rocha, Jolinar's original host. This is inconsistent with a truly symbiotic relationship.

    • The Tok'ra keep saying that they are different than the Goa'uld because they have a purely symbiotic relationship with their hosts, but the actual definition of symbiotic is "A close, prolonged association between two or more different organisms of different species that may, but does not necessarily, benefit each member." So even though the relationship with the Goa'uld doesn't benefit both Goa'uld and human it does just as much fit the definition of a purely symbiotic relationship.

    • SG-1 was wearing OD green uniforms to the Tok'ra planet but it was clearly a desert planet so they should have been wearing the desert camouflage.

    Allusions (1)

    • Jack: Ah, where's that Yellow Brick Road when you need it, eh Dorothy? The Yellow Brick Road was the path Dorothy and her friends followed to the Emerald City in 1939's The Wizard of Oz. Since then, it has become a colloquialism for any clearly marked path to a destination.
