  • Quotes (1)

    • (Hutch, Capt. Dobey, and Huggy Bear are deciphering the message from Hutch's abductors) Huggy Bear: The zoo! Capt. Dobey: Which is where you belong! (more deciphering) Hutch: Starsky is being held at the LA Zoo! (Hutch & Capt. Dobey rush out) Huggy Bear: Don't thank me...

    Notes (2)

    • This episode is directed by Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky), the first of five episodes he would direct for the series. As the bulk of the story focuses on Hutch's attempts to find his captured partner, Glaser's less time on screen than average freed up to direct it. David Soul would follow suit and direct his first story in a few episodes time, in 'Survival'.

    • Raymond Allen returns as Merl "The Earl", the jive-talking mechanic first seen in the first season's 'Jojo'. He appears again in the fourth season episode 'The Game'.

    Trivia (2)

    • The second time that Hutch interviews Simon Marcus, the conversation is different to the recording of it he later plays back in Captain Dobey's office!
      The original conversation runs:
Marcus: "...My dream is your fantasy. That's my message. But you won't understand. Never understand."
Hutch: (wearily) "Oh for God's sake. Where are you're people keeping my partner? Where?"
Marcus: "Everywhere. We're everywhere. Once in ebony, and granite, now. In trees, and the water. For the king of the forest, is dead."

The supposed recording of the conversation we later hear, runs:
Hutch: "For God's sake, will you just tell me where my partner is?!"
Marcus: "We're everywhere. Once in ebony, and granite, now. We're in the trees, in the water. You're dream, is my fantasy, that's my message."

The recording of what's supposed to be the same conversation has sentences in different places, alternate wording of sentences, emphases on different words, different pauses, not to mention Marcus' line "My dream is your fantasy" becomes "Your dream is my fantasy"!!

    • Merl the Earl's name is spelled 'Merle' on the sign on his garage, but on the closing credits, as with the character's other appearances, it is spelt without the 'e' on the end.
