    • Sam: I think I know where we are now. Cold Oak, South Dakota, a town so haunted every single resident fled. Ava: Swell. Good to know we're somewhere so historical.

    • Ava: (panicking) My fiancé, Brady, if I’ve been missing for that long he must be freaking out! (notices Andy) Andy: Hey. Andy. Also freaking out.

    • Jake: So, we’re soldiers in a demon war to bring on the apocalypse? Sam: When you put it like that…

    • Yellow Eyed Demon: You're awfully quiet, Sam... you're not mad at me, are you?

    • (Sam hears a noise and is about to turn the corner) Sam: Andy!? Andy: Sam... what are you doing here? Sam: I don't know. Andy: What am I doing here? Sam: I don't know, just... Andy: Where are we!? Sam: Andy, look calm down. Andy: I can't calm down. I just woke up in friggin' frontier land! Sam: What's the last thing you remember? Andy: Honestly... my fourth bong load.

    • Instead of the standard "Then" and "Now" recap, the show opens with "The Road So Far", just like in the last two episodes of season 1. This time, they show clips of all the special psychic kids the Winchesters have met along the way and the hints they've gotten about Sam's "destiny."

    Trivia (3)

    • At the diner, Dean looks out the back door and it's pouring rain out. However, when he goes out the front door a few seconds later, the rain has slowed to a very light drizzle.

    • At the very start, when Sam wakes up in the ghost town, there is a visible church-wouldn't it be sensible to automatically seek refuge there?

    • At the start of the episode, Dean is waiting in the car for Sam when the Yellow-Eyed Demon comes and gets Sam. The radio starts to flutter in and out which in countless past episodes has been a sign that there is a supernatural presence close. Why would he tap on the radio trying fix it?

    Allusions (3)

    • Andy: I just woke up in freakin' Frontier Land. Frontierland is one of the "themed lands" at the many Magic Kingdom-style parks run by Disney around the world. It is themed after the American west in the 1800s, and home to cowboys and pioneers, ghost towns, plateaus and gold rushes.

    • Sam: It's a brave new world. Referring to Aldus Huxley's 1932 novel, Brave New World, that describes an ironic utopia achieved through reproductive technology and biological engineering. Huxley in turn borrowed the line from Shakespeare's The Tempest.

    • Signature: D. Hasselhoff References David Hasselhoff, whose most notable roles are Michael Knight on Knight Rider from 1982-86 and Lt. Mitch Buchannon on Baywatch from 1989-2000.
