    • Annie: Wow. Dead. Ghost. Me. Three words you never want to use in a sentence.

    • Sam: (about Annie's affair with Bobby) It was a foxhole kind of thing. Very Hemingway.
Dean: She and I went Hemingway once too. Wait, you too?!
Sam: We ended up working the same case. She was stressed. I... didn't have a soul.

    • Bobby: All right, now. I can kill werewolves, fix a Pinto, and bake cornbread. I will be damned if I can't get zen.

    • Dean: We combed the crap out of this place.
Sam: If Annie's in there and we didn't find her, it's 'cause something doesn't want us to.
Dean: Awesome. Well, let's walk right into that.

    • Annie: Are you okay?
Bobby: Sure. I mean... I'm dead. I'm a ghost... but, basically, swell.

    Trivia (1)

    • The newspaper Sam was reading chronicling the murder of Van Ness' fiancee on the eve of their wedding is dated Friday, January 11, 1901. When Sam and Dean break into the Van Ness mausoleum the marker on Van Ness's crypt says he was born in 1895 and died in 1935. That would have made Van Ness six years old when he was engaged to be married.

    Allusions (3)

    • Dean: Guy moves more dirt than The Drudge Report.
Referencing the web site run primarily by Matt Drudge, which started as a gossip column and eventually went to publishing news and political links, and breaking occasional stories based on tips to Drudge himself.

    • Bobby: For the record, I hated that Swayze flick.

Referencing the 1990 film, Ghost, starring starring Patrick Swayze as a ghost who is able to move objects when angry or otherwise feeling strong emotion. Dean has used "Swayze" as a verb to describe ghosts moving objects before, starting in "In My Time of Dying".

    • Dean: Slimer?

Referencing the mischievous ghost seen in the two Ghostbusters movies (1984 and 1989). The green spirit is a "focused, non-terminal repeating phantasm" and is generally harmless. In The Real Ghostbusters animated series, Slimer becomes the Ghostbusters' mascot and eventually the show was renamed to Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters.
