  • Episode Description
  • As the days grow longer and the temperature increases, the energy-less Barramundi Tribe quickly shifts into survival mode, trying to find a way to get food, since they only have one cup of rice left. At the Reward Challenge, everyone is treated to some food during a Survivor Acution, but it doesn't last long, and it does not give the tribe energy enough to sustain themselves. It's obvious how tired the players are during the strenuos Immunity Challenge, which Colby wins, and later, Jeff Probst makes a deal with the castaways to trade all of their tarps for more rice to last the final thirteen days in the Outback. The survivors make the trade, but how will they cope without shelter? The issue is put on the back burner as the Ogakor alliance votes off Nick, making him the third member of the jury.moreless

  • Definitely a case of Barramundi withering away into nothingness... almost.

    • Nick: I’ve kind of felt invincible sometimes, and Survivor has taught me that I’m not at all.

    • Tina: (Casting a vote for Nick) You said that you were tired of the game, and that you weren’t having fun anymore. So here’s your ticket, buddy!

    • Tina: There’s worse things in life than getting wet – like starving to death.

    • Jeff: You’ve got 13 days left, and I don’t think you’re gonna make it.

    • Elisabeth: I am feeling terrible, I'm shaking and weak, I couldn't even walk up the hill, and I am nauseous. We have nothing to sustain us. I am just really low.

    Notes (3)

    • Everyone’s a winner during the Reward Challenge, a Survivor Auction where the castaways bid real money for food that Jeff offers. Among the winnings are Colby’s iced coffee and power bar, Elisabeth’s chicken and mashed potatoes, Rodger’s cheeseburger, and Amber’s bid on the mystery item, a tall glass of river water.

    • Colby wins his first Immunity Challenge.

    • Nick is voted off in this episode and becomes the third person to join the jury. So far, Alicia, Jerri, and now Nick constitute the jury that will decide who wins the game.

    Allusions (3)

    • After Jerri is voted out of the tribe, Keith sings “ding, dong, the witch is dead,” and then whistles the rest. This is the song that the Munchkins sing in The Wizard of Oz, celebrating the death of the Wicked Witch of the East.

    • During the Reward Challenge, Jeff Probst sells a food item to Colby, saying, "Once, twice, sold to the Movie Star." Ironically, the nickname becomes a reality years later in the recently-released movie Red Eye, in which Colby Donaldson plays a security gaurd with a speaking part.

    • During the Immunity Challenge, Tina sings an old kid’s song called “There’s a Hole in the Bucket.” She sings this because of the hole in the large bucket that the contestants need to fill up in order to win the competition.
